Re: what are kick counts?
A kick count is when you count the number of voluntary movements your baby makes. You want to do a kick count during times the baby is particularly active. You are looking for 10 voluntary movements in an hour (rolls, kicks, pushes, etc. do not count hiccups as these are involuntary).
A kick count can be done 2 times a day. Get in a comfortable position. If you do not get your 10 counts and your hour is drawing close to an end, lay on your left side. It can help blood flow and increase movement.
I started doing this at 28 weeks.

But if your baby is kicking all the time you don't have to worry.
My DS was super active so they said don't worry about it unless something changes.

Re: what are kick counts?
My doctor never told me to do this, but I have a very active LO so I never bothered anyway.

Re: what are kick counts?
your doctor probably didn't tell you yet because its still too early. They normally tell you to start tracking the movement at about youe 30s. So don't worry. By kick count all you are doing is just making sure the baby moves a couple of times per hour. But don't worry if you feel your baby is very active you don't need to worry about tracking your kick count
