Kick counts?
I was given my kick count card about a week ago and I haven't been able to do it the way they want me to? They want me to lay down on my left side for 1 hour at the SAME time everyday and count kicks. When she kicks 4 times I can stop counting? From what I remember, they used to say to count 10 kicks and I can do it whenever I wanted to and I didn't have to be lying down, just staying still? What did your doctor tell you to do? There is absoultely no way I can lay down at the same time everyday for an hour. Not with 2 other kids at home and working FT. LOL! If I get to lay down it's after 10pm and sometimes not until later and then I fall asleep. How do I do this?

Re: Kick counts?
I plan on having this conversation with my OB on Thursday, so we shall see what his instructons will be!
Since you can do it at any point throughout the day, what about right as you are laying down for bed? That might be easer than trying to find time during the day!

Re: Kick counts?
My OB told me not to count kicks at all. I asked yesterday. I'm only 29 weeks though so I don't know if that's part of it or if he just isn't a kick counter person...
I read online to just count 10 kicks within 2 hours but nothing about laying on your side to do it. When I feel her, I just look at the clock and start counting (I count with letters because it's easier for me to keep track). This morning, I felt her as I was driving home from the gym at 11:45. I just got up to "j" kicks (10) about 10 minutes ago, a little over an hour later. In the meantime, I drove home from the gym, took a shower, made and ate lunch... definitely didn't keep still lol.

Re: Kick counts?
They never told me to count kicks... My has a very predictable pattern at night though, so I can def. tell if he is not moving as much without having to lay down

Re: Kick counts?
I never did that with DS. But I did notice he had "times" when he would be more active and I'd just try to keep a look out for those times.

Re: Kick counts?
I asked my doc about kick counting and he said "does he move?" and I said yes and he said "then your fine" lol so I guess I just have to make sure he's moving!

same here- she thought I was crazy wanting to count kicks- she said as long as the movement was consistent everything was fine
