What age-lovey
At what age did you let DC have a lovey in the crib?
DD is a little over 4 months...I am trying to break her of the swaddle habit, so I am thinking she might need something to do with her hands. Right now, she is asleep with 1 arm out of the swaddle, and clutching the lovey. It's adorable  but I am nervous about the lovey in the crib. I am watching her like a hawk on the monitor.

I gave him one when we stopped swaddling at 3m, and like you I stalked him day and night with that lovey. (not to mention we had a sensor monitor on top of that) .. but after a week, I felt better about it, he was sleep so well with it. He still has it now at 8m.
While he can sleep without it, he does look for something to cuddle when he goes to sleep. So I've even let him have other stuffed animals.

Around 4 months old when he decided he didn't like his paci anymore. He's almost 14 months now and doesn't leave home without it.
He has always chewed on it to go to sleep. Around 8 months is when he got really attached to it.
Had to add a pic...
