Westboro Baptist Church
I am beyond disgusted. These are the idiots that have been protesting at military funerals. Well now, according to their website, they plan on protesting at Yeardley Love's funeral, the UVA student that was murdered. The spiel talks about Catholic priests and all. So I guess since she was Catholic and went to a Catholic HS and will have a Catholic funeral, it's okay to protest at a murder victim's funeral. I am so livid right now. Someone needs to stop this group.

They are just a disaster. To call it a "church" is a joke.
I've seen so many interviews with that one lady - with the batshit crazy eyes - she's a psycho. They all are - horrible extremists who are fueled by hate - and fear.
In one sense, there is freedom of speech, which protects them, even though I don't like it, but I do believe in freedom of speech.
While I haven't been in the situation, and am not 100% sure of how I'd feel if I were, but I've thought about this before:
If they were picketing at a loved one's funeral, I don't think it'd bother me. I think they are so pathetic and insignificant - and ridiculous - that their whole 'shock value' mentality just goes right down the drain.
It's like a child who is having a temper tantrum and just desperately wants attention for something completely unreasonable - so, you ignore it and don't give in.
When people get all "up in arms" about it (which I get), it fuels them. It gives them power. They get off on it.
I think love can conquer most things, and while I wouldn't bum rush them to give a hug, I surely wouldn't waste a nanosecond thinking of them at a funeral; instead, I'd be celebrating the life of my loved one.
They can take their ugly neon-80's spray painted signs and shove it.
They are welcome at my funeral...just be sure to play some "I think we're alone now..doesn't seem to be anyone one aroundddd..." Tiffany hits from the 80's...you know, to match the ugly signs. And maybe a small gay pride parade, just to piss them off.
I mean, come ON...all that sh!t about being gay should be a capital crime? Does ANYONE truly believe that NONE of the MEN in the "Church" don't get off to 2 women being together? Puhfkingleeeeeze...

They are heartless hypocrites. I can't believe they think for a nano-second that God is on their side in these protests. My heart BLEEDS for the families who had to endure these azzholes at family member funerals.

The "church" is made up of all family members pretty much so they just keep brainwashing their future generations. I feel bad for any child born into that family.
Also the crazy eyed lady is the founders daughter and had a child out of wedlock. Hypocritical much?

What they do is kind of mental warfare.
I've heard a lot about this disgrace of an organization, a lot of interviews and such.
They basically have said that many people, when attending a funeral, think about their own mortality, and their life. When you go to a funeral, you realize that anyone can go at any time, and it makes you question things. They hope that in this sensitive moment, you will fall prey to wanting to live in a righteous path, and fear god's power and wrath. (I don't believe in this, but this is their thinking). they hope you will begin to go against homosexuality, abortion, and a whole other slew of things.
