Weird things on public transportation
I am sitting on an Amtrak train right now and the woman across the aisle from me is eating a baked sweet potato the way you would eat an apple- holding it in her hand and biting into it. Struck me as a pretty odd thing to do. Granted, I don't take any form of public transportation on a regular basis, so I'm sure there are a lot stranger things that go on so thought I'd ask - what's the weirdest thing you've seen on any form of public transportation?

The skin IS the healthiest part of the potato  but if I were her I would do that in a much more subtle way -- or just in private LOL!
The weirdest thing I witnessed on public transportation was one time when my sister and I were coming home from a concert in the city, we were on the LIRR, and you know how as you travel the lights on the train flicker and go out for a few seconds sometimes?? So, they were doing that like normal and each time it happened a woman in our car would scream "OH NO!!!!! I'm afraid of the dark!!!!" A grown woman, in her fifties. To which my sister said to me, how does she sleep at night?!

Correction: Apparently I saw two men who always wear hotpants. One of them has man boobs. Both have leathery skin, so I was mistaken that they were old.

I have a good friend who works for the County in Public Works and he is in charge of overseeing buses and the bus terminals and those little plastic things people stand inside, that are covered, while they wait -- ideal for if it's raining. Anyway, there's a couple and their "fetish" is to have sex on the bus, in the plastic bus stop covered waiting area, etc. They also like to try and "inhabit" the plastic bus stop covered waiting areas -- by going to the bathroom (#1 **AND** #2) inside them, sleeping in them, and of course like I mentioned above - having sex in them.
My friend is in charge of overseeing the operations for the buses and so he is constantly having to deal with these two - he tries to get local authorities but when people complain, he calls the police to have them go and look, and by the time they get there they are usually gone. They have been arrested a few times but they just get out, get a slap on the wrist for disorderly conduct and get released just to do it again.
I feel so bad for my friend because this has been an ongoing problem for him - this couple has been at it for over a year now.

ETA -- they really love it when people see them - they get off on the idea that someone may see them and when that happens, it's like a homerun for them

Weird things on public transportation
For about a minute I was completely frozen in place and I didn't know what to do. I finally got up the nerve to get up and leave the car in search of a conductor. But by the time I found one, he had wrapped it up and gotten off at the next stop.
I was 18 and it was my first semester commuting to college in the city. I made it two semesters and transferred out.
ETA: there was only one other woman in that car with me. It was a daytime train because my afternoon class had cancelled. I am lucky nothing else happened.

Weird things on public transportation
I have seen people eat just about anything. the starngest though was a bag of cooked shrimp.....at 7am. It smelled!
I also had a guy on the 529pm train pull a pancake out of a bag and eat it. Not as strange as the shrimp...it was more that it came out of a bag with no syrup or butter or anything.
A guy sewing his halloween costume, people watching porn, people ordering sex toys.
I have seen a bunch!

Oh geez. I've commuted on the subway for over 20 years now, since I was a kid going to school. I've seen a LOT.
Two women with baby carriages getting into an all-out fistfight.
Someone chopping an onion on a cutting board.
All sorts of weird outfits.
People watching porn.
People watching the porn that the other people are watching.
Preachers and doomsdayers.
A man chewing one of his toenails.
People vomiting.
People having sex.
A woman who had a conversation with the dog on her lap.
So much.
