Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll

Yes, definitely. Some babies take it and some don't. It can be soothing to them.

BTDT Dad....

Pacifiers have been shown to help reduce SIDS. It's easier to take away a pacifier later on than it is to stop them from sucking their thumb.... Chat Icon

Happy kids make for happy parents.... Chat Icon

I would never force a DC to take one, but if they are looking for something to suck on, but aren't hungry, I would (and have) definitely give them a paci. Both my DC were off the paci by around 18 months.

I've heard that about SIDS before. I'm sure that if Chat Icon is crying and stops when she gets a paci then I'll give in!

Neither my sister nor I liked the paci...my sister sucked two of her fingers until she was 20 something! I'll go for the paci over braces if I get the choice!

I'm sure that with enough sleep deprivation, i'd probably give the kid scotch if it means i can get some sleep Chat Icon Chat Icon

OK, so I was totally against them. HATED them. But when it comes to sanity and it gives you 15 mins of quiet time on 2 hours of sleep. Watch how fast you change your mind. JMO

I typed other. Funny, I was going to start a post on this.
I really don't know. Neither my DH or I had them. I'd like to get a lot of opinions though (other than our parents).

Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll

Right now I have intentions of using whatever soothes the baby the best. I don't see anything wrong with a pacifier
