Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll
Right now I don't plan on it if I can avoid it...but who knows if that will work!

Yes, definitely. Some babies take it and some don't. It can be soothing to them.

Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll
BTDT Dad....
Pacifiers have been shown to help reduce SIDS. It's easier to take away a pacifier later on than it is to stop them from sucking their thumb....
Happy kids make for happy parents....
I would never force a DC to take one, but if they are looking for something to suck on, but aren't hungry, I would (and have) definitely give them a paci. Both my DC were off the paci by around 18 months.

I've heard that about SIDS before. I'm sure that if is crying and stops when she gets a paci then I'll give in!
Neither my sister nor I liked the paci...my sister sucked two of her fingers until she was 20 something! I'll go for the paci over braces if I get the choice!

Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll
I'm sure that with enough sleep deprivation, i'd probably give the kid scotch if it means i can get some sleep

OK, so I was totally against them. HATED them. But when it comes to sanity and it gives you 15 mins of quiet time on 2 hours of sleep. Watch how fast you change your mind. JMO

Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll
I typed other. Funny, I was going to start a post on this. I really don't know. Neither my DH or I had them. I'd like to get a lot of opinions though (other than our parents).

Re: Wednesday Afternoon Poll
Right now I have intentions of using whatever soothes the baby the best. I don't see anything wrong with a pacifier
