She is. I worked it into a conversation about her wedding, because I'm stealthy like that, and got a different coworker to get her home address for me.
My swap person will probably get me a gift card.

Does the person who gave it to you irk you anyway? Are they pushy/overbearing?
Maybe that's why you're upset. I get that way with one of my family members. I get annoyed over the silliest things just because she just annoys me in general.

It's for a work gift swap. It goes along with a stationary set that I found with some literary characters she loves, I thought it would go nicely together. And a bookmark, magnets. That kind of thing.
I'm going to clean Etsy out today, I swear.
As part of a gift set, then yes, it's cute!

I think this is an amazing gift to receive, particularly for a "gift swap"! Most people put about 3 nanoseconds of thought into those and you wind up with a $10 Starbucks gift card purchased on the way to work the morning of the swap. And you don't even LIKE Starbucks all that much. Great gift greenie!
ETA: I Just realized how hard it is to say "great gift greenie!"

No, but being that we were moving and purchasing a home within 2 months of getting married, they would have been utterly useless for us. I also have many friends that have not taken their DHs last names, so something like that might have irked them.

The fact that you put some thought into it would be enough for me.. as other people said, most people buy a gift card and leave it at that
IMO doesn't matter if they're going to move, or what if the name isn't listed just right etc..
You went out of your way to put some real effort and thought into getting something thoughtful and useful for them - that's the most important thing!
i think its a great idea and i'm sure the recipient will be thrilled

I would be fine with it as long as the person actually checked with me to see if I planned to change my name. I did not change my last name and even though I thought I would not care if people called me by my husband's last name, I am very disappointed by the number of disapproving comments I have heard and therefore I feel a need to be more insistent that people get my name right  .
