Wedding etiquette question
Just curios as to what you would do here.
Your at a family wedding, walking into dinner after the ch. at your table of 12, you notice that you are short a place setting, seat. Do you: find the maitre d and explain you need a setting and seat. Possibly find the bridal attendant and tell her. Or run right to the brides parents and dramatically tell them that YOU need another chair. And go on and on about it for a while.
What do you think my mil did?

Re: Wedding etiquette question
Sorry, but . Sounds like your MIL ran to the bride's parents and made a big fuss.
I would definitely find an employee or ANYONE ELSE besides the bride/groom and their immediate family.
Sorry that happened!

Re: Wedding etiquette question
D. None of the above. I'd run right up to the bride and rip her a new one. How dare she not provide support for my rear end!
On a serious note, all you can do is laugh about it. I hope the bride's parents had a sense of humor!

Re: Wedding etiquette question
I would grab the mic from the DJ and scream and rant about for at least 10 minutes, then fume about it for the remainder of the ceremony, making sure nobody else enjoyed themselves, either.....
.... either that, or quietly ask the waitstaff for a place setting....

Re: Wedding etiquette question
LOL, I can guess what your MIL did.
I would quietly find the Maitre'D and tell them we need another place setting

Re: Wedding etiquette question
Ding ding ding!
The woman has no social graces whatsoever.
I do like GR's approach. I think I'll save that for my bil's wedding, of that day ever happens.

Re: Wedding etiquette question
And at my wedding, my parents had no seats.
We didn't know until, the next day. My dad got th bridal attendant and maitre d and figured it out. If it was my il's they would've ran right up to us.

Re: Wedding etiquette question
Where do you and your family have weddings? It seems like there is an epidemic of parents not getting seats!

Re: Wedding etiquette question
