We had quite a scare today - I'm still shaking!
I think I know what a heart attack feels like. Is 29 too young to have one??
I took Lilly out to my parents house this morning to spend the day out there with them. Miss Lilly decided that she was still hungry after breakfast and decided to chow down on a wood chip that she got out of my parent's garden. The wood chip wound up getting lodged in her throat and she was running around gagging and coughing and trying to claw at her mouth. I couldn't catch her to help her (so much for obedience class - she never did get "stay" and "come") and I felt so helpless. Finally, she slowed down enough for me to grab her, pick her up and sweep the wood out of her throat. She was so scared and I was just holding her and crying. I had awful visions of her choking to death in front of me. I never want to feel that again.
She's acting fine now - all this happened around 1:00 this afternoon. She's never gone after the wood chips before - I hope this isn't a new thing. She loves to run free in my parent's yard, but I'm a little afraid of letting her do so now. She is always supervised, but this happened in the blink of an eye. So scary.

OMG, I am always so worried about that. Luckily you saved her! That's why I can never even leave my dogs out alone, they eat everything.
Thank GOD you saved her!!!!

OMG I m so glad everything is ok. My Brody eats everythgibg in sight, he is like a vacuum and DH always yells at me for being on top of him all the time. Again, glad all is ok!

Glad she is okay...Misty loves to eat sticks and once or twice she's gotten choked up from it. She's big though, so she just coughs it up....

OMG that happened to me with Bella too! I was taking her for a walk and she grabbed a piece of wood and began running around and pawing at her face, when I caught her, the stick was across her mouth stuck between her back teeth. An inch futher, it would have been in her throat!! Very scary!! I am glad you pup is ok!!

Oh no, my poor little smiling lilly pad!!! I'm so glad to hear she's ok... how scary.
Tell Miss Lilly there wll be no choking to death - she and Arnie have not had their play date yet!!! 
All kidding aside, I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in that situation. I'm glad she's ok.
