We had a fire!
Last night our dryer caught fire and destroyed our laundry room and garage. The firemen said that occasionally you should open up your dryer and check for lint that has gotten into the machinery compartment-you actually have to unscrew the panel that covers it. Thank goodness no one was hurt and insurance will cover the majority of the damage, but I just wanted to remind everyone of this-and check the batteries in your smoke alarms!

Thankfully it wasn't bad.... I had my dryer "smoke" on us two weeks ago and that was bad enough. DH spent an entire day cleaning it out. It the #1 reason (fire) NEVER to run any appliance when you are not home.

I try to run appliances while I am home, and not while Im sleeping either.
Very scary! TY for the advice. I will def. clean "more" of the lint trap. I do clean it after every run, but, now I will do it more "in depth".
Again, glad you are ok!

I am glad that you are ok, but sorry to hear about your house.
We have this toster oven that we received as a shower present and it was acting funny so I called the manufacturer today and they told me to cut the cord, throw it out and they are sending me a new one.

My FIL was a fireman and my BIL is a fireman and they both say that Dryers are the #1 cause of house fires. Thankfully no one was hurt!!! This is a reminder to us all.
