WDW Dining question...Chef Mickey
I made a reservation for 2 for 5pm at chef mickeys. Didn't even think to count my 18mo old and make it 3. Now there is only 9pm reservations left all the days we'll be there! I called WDW and they said keep checking as the date nears it might open for 3.
I will do that BUT if nothing ever opens do you think they will be able to accomodate us if she show up 2adults an 1 toddler? 9Pm for dinner isn't going to work.(the agent couldn't answer that question for me)
It was an honest mistake i'm not trying to get one over, has anyone else experienced a change in reservations and had problems getting their table or will they seat us? He can sit on my lap and eat off my plate if we need to squeeze at a table only sized for 2!

Re: WDW Dining question...Chef Mickey
You called disney dining directly and they couldnt change your reservation from 2 to 3? Thats odd. Its only 1 extra person. I would call again. Every CM is different and maybe youll get a different answer w a different CM.

I would try it if nothing opens up. I don't see a problem if you don't mind DD on your lap. And if you're lucky, she'll have a high chair.

Re: WDW Dining question...Chef Mickey
I would just keep your existing time. Like you said, shel'll eat off of your plate anyway and can sit on your lap. It's not like you would be squeezing another adult at a table for 2.

Re: WDW Dining question...Chef Mickey
You might be out of luck. Not sure if they will allow him to sit in your lap. Never seen that question asked. The issue will be if they can put you at a four top or only a two top. And if it is a two top is it in a place safe to put a high chair next to it.
With the cancellation policy you might snag a new reservation if someone cancels so definitely call a few times the day before and week of. The catch will be if you show up and they won't seat you will they charge you the no show $10 pp fee.
You could ask over on disboards. There are some cast members there and they might know what they can and cannot do.

What about trying tucker house or garden grill. Chef mickey's is popular but eh so so. How does your DC do with characters? My older DC was very outgoing but terrified at chef mic key's. My younger one was very shy, but loved it.

Does he sit in a high chair? If so, I wouldn't even worry about it and just show up. If they turn you away, they turn you away. I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't show up for their ressies anyway.

They make you wait when you get to Chef Mickeys. It isn't like you have an assigned table at that exact time slot. I am sure you will be totally fine.

I had an extra adult come unexpectedly at Chef Mickeys and it was no problem at all to accommodate us. I highly doubt they wont "allow" you to have your DD to sit on your lap should it come to that. Thats absurd if they do.

DD liked looking at the characters, but didn't want them anywhere near her. She loved the princesses and fairies.

Not sure what to tell you but I did want to say that I was able to get a res for chef mickey with like a week before the trip... Things just open up sometimes... You can keep trying but I can't see them giving you a hard time... Chef mickey was a blast! The look on my daughters face (almost 2 at the time) was priceless... MMC is her all time fav show and she was thrilled To meet the characters (except for goofy... He was the first to come to her and he's HUGE so I don't blame her lol)

Most people do show if they haven't cancelled by the day before now with the new cancellation penalty charge.

Thanks for all the suggestions!! I'm so excited for DS; but I'm really looking forward to seeing all the characters myself LOL! Good to know that even though we have the reservation we'll still have to wait. I guess we should aim to get there between 4:30-4:45 then? I don't mind waiting for a table. I'll be on vacation!

I'm sure many people willfully eat the $10 charge if they can't make it to their dinner. We all know kids get sick on vacation, are moody, etc. and dinner plans go out the window.

Should be no problem just showing up... We've had to do that for a few reservations when an extra adult decided to come with us the last minute.

I'm sure many people willfully eat the $10 charge if they can't make it to their dinner. We all know kids get sick on vacation, are moody, etc. and dinner plans go out the window.
But it isn't just $10. It is $30 for a family of 3, 40 for 4 etc. so no. Apparently most are showing up or canceling now. They often do waive the per person fee if you call and they feel you legitimately have a sick kid. Lots of people posted being annoyed that their kids were too cranky to eat and got hit with a $40 or $50 no show fee. It actually discouraged many from booking more restaurants.
The only time I hear of people eating the fee was at Akershsus when Anna and Elsa were greeting in Norway. People used their ADR to beat the rope drop crowds to the line. They would be able to get into the park early for their ADR then not show or only some of their party would go eat. They do not charge you for not showing if some of your party show and eat (ie party of 4 -kid is sick so mom stays with kid, dad takes other child. They don't charge $20 for the two no shows. They only charge if your whole party doesn't show to eat).
Personally not found of it bc we ended up not doing as many meals as we would like. We always cancelled, never no showed. But it is hard to know if your child will be melting down or too hot, too tired, whatever 24 hours ahead. I wasn't eating a $60 fee bc of a cranky kid, nor having a miserable meal to avoid the cost.
