Way TMI.... STD related

Sorry, but I dont know who else to turn to. DH was just diagnosed with an infection that 2/3 of the time is caused by chlamydia or gonorrhea and 1/3 of the time is due to other minor bacteria, all treated with antibiotics.

I was tested for STDs at my 7 week appointment and all was negative. I am 1 million percent sure DH has been faithful. Would it be possible for him to have had an STd for 6 years ad never passed it on to me? Should I assume it was this other minor bacteria that caused the infection? Or should I worry that if it was an STD, he could have passed it to me in the past couple weeks since he started having symptoms? I just don't want anything getting passed to the baby!!

The midwife at my OBGYN office seems to think that since I was negative 7 weeks ago, that I shouldn't worry. But he got this infection after my bloodwork so I don't know what to think.

Any suggestions or advice?

I would ask if they could run the test again since you're worried

I'm sorry you are going through this! They should be able to determine what caused the infection. It is unlikely that he had either chlamydia or gonorrhea for 6 years without any symptoms (that's more common in women). Is he giving you this information.......I assume they are just waiting for test results to come back to say for sure what it is right? If you trust your husband then I'm sure its the other bacteria but you need to know for sure and I would ask to be tested again if it comes back one of the first two. Good luck.

i would ask to be tested again...better safe than sorry! considering though that you were fine 7 weeks ago, i would be pretty sure it was bacteria related and not an STD but it cant hurt to do another round of tests

Regardless of how he contracted it, I'd ask to be retested. It's non-invasive and will give you peace of mind, especially since you're still so early on in your pregnancy.

I would definitely get retested right away, even if I wasn't pregnant. It's better to be safe than sorry. Plus it will give you piece of mind so you can stop worrying. Good luck!
