Re: warming formula....
I used the bottle warmer contraption (made by 1st years).
I'm sure it is ok as long as you test the milk to see if it is too hot. Don't worry too much about it.

Re: warming formula....
Ive warmed Ryans bottle in the microwave as soon as I started using formula...
I only put it on for a short while- to take the chill off... and I shake it real good before I use it...

This might sound crazy BUT I use the same method that they used in the NICU... they just put hot water in containers and stick the bottles in... they never get too hot, just around room temp or a bit warmer. I do that during the day and the 1st years bottle warmer at night.

Re: warming formula....
I don't like how a microwave warms regular food so I don't use it for formula. I boil the water...laugh if you must but that is the way I prefer it.

Re: warming formula....
I warm Michael's bottles in the microwave. I do not make them get to hot. The babysitter heats his bottles on the stove in the hot water.

Re: warming formula....
I microwave the water, then mix in the powder and shake.
IF it's ready made, i warm it up, then shake it to distribute the heat.
For a 4 oz bottle my microwave 16 seconds is perfect!

Re: warming formula....
I used the microwave after I got tired of heating it up the other ways. Eventually, I got her used to room temp. bottles, but mostly I used powder.

I heat it in hot water, for a 4-5 oz bottle it goes in for 4 minutes.

I sit it in a tupperware container and run hot water over it. I usually let it sit in the water while I change her diaper.

Re: warming formula....
I have to be honest, I would really be scared to warm it in the microwave for fear of a "hot spot" in the bottle. Even after shaking it. It's just not worth the chance.

Re: warming formula....
For my first son, I only used the bottle warmer (first years) to heat up his bottles. For my 2 week old, I heat them in the microwave...Isn't it something how you do things differently the second time around

Re: warming formula....
I use the microwave to take the chill off and swirl it around. Ped said they don't recommend it because of the hot spots but if the parent is aware and doesn't make it too hot and swirls it around it's okay.

Wow I didn't realize you could use the microwave. I use either hot water or the bottle warmer.

I always use the microwave. I heat it in a glass though and pour it into the bottle from there.

Re: warming formula....
Hmm, I just used to sit the bottle in some warm water from the tap while I got her ready.
After some time, I didn't even warm it up - she drinks it cold right from the fridge!

Re: warming formula....
i put it in a mug of hot water- but I really don't warm it through- maybe give it a minute or two to take the chill off but really it is still pretty cold- she doesn't mind.
