Wanting a baby
Have you found that the harder it is to have one, the more you want one? (if that's at all possible)
For me, we were just trying casually. Then moreso after the doc visit and now it's becoming beyond important to me. DH went from wanting to start a family to now being on board with having to time our bding to maximize our chances.

You know the deal about wanting what you can't have? That's very true about IF issues. It sounds like you are becoming posessed by baby fever. I know the feeling all to well. Beware that it becomes all consuming and not always in a good way.

Re: Wanting a baby
I know it can be crazy. I just know now that I'm old and have elderly eggs, the thought that I've waited too long and may not be able to afford enough IVF tries is daunting.
I don't even know if I have to go that route yet, but I hear at my "advanced maternal age" it may be the way to go.
who invented that term?

Re: Wanting a baby
that term sucks. i'm coming right up on it as well and starting to tatally panic. i've had 2 m/c this year and every month i freak out more and more about the time running out. it's like all i can see is that sand clock thing and it just drains faster and faster every 28 days. i'll be 35 in august. it shouldn' t be this difficult for any of us.

I think it has more to do with the fact that if there is some issue, you become more aware of it and think about it much more often.

Re: Wanting a baby
You are definitely not alone; each month my fear grows that I waited too long. I'll be 38 in October and I have what they call "poor ovarian reserve" which means my ovaries have rapidly aged for some reason.

sorry to hear that. I haven't even been tested yet. My hopes may be dashed completely. I'm 41.

Re: Wanting a baby
I think the longer you want something, the more you will think about it. When you are only trying for a couple of months, it is not that big of a deal. But after a significant amount of time has passed and you still don't have what is supposed to be natural, the desire grows and grows.

Re: Wanting a baby
It's a natural feeling - IF tends to consume us. I've found that, at least for me, therapy has really helped me focus on other, more important things in my life, rather than consume myself with the day to day yearning

Re: Wanting a baby
I'm just doing a lot of reading and researching now and I have so many things in my head and I haven't even started yet. Once I have a plan, I'm sure I will obsess in a different way.

You should see how I'm obsessing this cycle! Now that I went through IVF once, I know what to expect, and I know what questions to ask now. In addition to all the reading I did between last cycle and this cycle. You should see the chart/calendar I put together for this time around! DH thinks I'm nutso

Re: Wanting a baby
I find myself staring at kids and thinking how cute they are. Especially when they are loud and crying.
I was the sort of person who never paid much attention to kids. It wasn't until my nieces were born that I figured out what to do with them.
When i feel bad about my age (40), I look to people who are older than I (like 45) who have had a baby (#1) or who are pregnant. And then I don't feel old and I get inspired. If they can do it, so can I.
