Walking Shoes Question

So my dd just started to walk. I brought her to stride rite I got her a pair of the walking shoes they have.

Personally I don't love the style of their shoes at all so I was wondering besides stride rite are there any other brands that are good walking shoes for my dd?

Also can I also put her in other sneakers and shoes at this point if I wanted to? Not all the time but with some outfits. Like converse or Nike if I want sneakers? What about salt water sandals?

This is all new to me and I don't want to do anything to damage or hinder the proper development of her foot and I am completely in the dark here about it.

Walking Shoes Question

I had ds in the stride rite step 2 shoes until he really got the knack of walking. The soft sole mimics them being barefoot because it's so thin and flexible. I was told by the ped that hard soled shoes won't allow for the foot muscles to be able to move correctly. Personally I don't put any shoes on before they're walking (not even decorative or "cute" shoes) and after I just put them on if they are waking around somewhere outside.

DD's physical therapist wanted soft soled, rounded, closed toe shoes. She said stride rite step 2's are perfect. I haven't seen anything else that fits as well as they do. DD is barefoot most of the time, in stride rites when we're out, and has been in "cute" shoes 2-3 times ever.

Ds was shoeless until he really knew how to walk. He would walk arund the house or daycare and I would only let him walk in the grass....it was late fall though so we weren't out as much.

I just bought a pair of sneakers that had a soft sole. Not sure where I got them.

ok yes shes walking but still learning. I may exchange the step 3s then for step 2s.

I only put the shoes on when were outside or going somewhere and I know shes gonna want to walk around. I never did the decorative shoe thing either. I just know now that I do need something for the times were out I wanted something cute. I think Im going to go back and talk to them again.

Just wanted to add that you should be able to get them buy one get one half off right now! As far as the look, I've gotten pairs that I don't love in store but once DD starts wearing them I always find them super cute.

Nike makes first walkers that are adorable. Goex is also a good brand. I recommend going to a children's shoe store they have best selection of a variety of brands in first walker. Just make sure the sole is flexible

I enjoyed reading this post - as dd is now wanting to "stand" when we are holding her, I want to pick up something for her tootsies to be protected when we are outside (ie patios at bbqs, etc). Question: if stride rite makes robeez, what is the difference between the early walker stride rite and their robeez line?

Christina Im not sure of their line but when my dd started to stand and cruise I got her PediPed shoes and loved them! They are all leather soft sole and VERY pretty. They have lots of options to choose from and are fairly priced. She learned to walk on her with them too! =)

I actually went back to the site to check if they have anything similar to stride rite and they do! Im so silly! So I may return my stride rite shoes and go for another pair of them.

The stage one pedi peds are leather sole with a nonslip bottom.

Love the red mary janes! I got my dd white ones with the bow. They actually stay on and i know they must be comfortable because they were the only shoes she didnt try to rip off her feet!
