waking to "go" at night (newly trained)

DS will be three in 2 weeks. He trained this past weekend, FAST but all is going well. In pull-ups for almost 3 days and not 1 accident.

BUT - he is waking at night and even having a hard time falling asleep because he constantly (every 20-30 mins) wants to sit and try to go. He normally goes to bed at 830, didnt pass out until 1030 last night.

He woke up at 330am and went.

Normal for a newly trained 3 yr old boy? Will he not want to go so frequently once he's really figured things out?

I am tempted just to leave him in underwear or a pull up with the light on dim and just have him go (leave the potty in his room) when he needs to? I try that during the day but he needs help getting his pants and pull-up back up.

when i trained Ian i never put him in a pull up. he immediately went into underwear day and night. if he has an accident he should feel it. that said...ian never wakes up to pee. but that kid has a bladder like a camel. he'll pee before bed at 7pm and will hold it until 7:30-8am the next morning! but i make sure he pees before bed. thats non-negotiable and sometimes its a fight.

Same as Diana...no pull ups.. but at night he does wear a diaper.. i dont feel like changig sheets.. however he's been dry every morning and does not wke up.

he may not know what he has to feel..that's whey he's going so often.. puyt him in underwear and see if he has accidents.. THEN he'll know for sure what he's supposed to feel.

Once I started to train JJ, pull ups went out the window, it was underwear all the time. He actually slept the first night in underwear without incident. If he's in a pull up, the sensation won't be the same as if he wet underwear.

During the day, JJ pees like every 10 minutes but he consumes a lot of water. The minute he is in bed, he doesnt wake to go. When he was first trained, he would ask to go 3 times after he was in bed already but quickly grew out of it.

the thing is, he has not had a single accident in the pullup (yet) so Im not sure its a sensation thing as far as a wet pull up goes? he thinks of them as underwear and knows not to make peepee in them? ill try underwear anyway, see if it makes a difference.

i really think its just new to him so he is trying to figure out the sensation of needing to go?

My ds didn't pee in a pull up he felt more comfortable than undies at first. He didn't realize the pull up was a diaper.

I think you son is enjoying the novelty of going to the potty. It is just a phase. Don't react to all the trips to the potty and when he gets up at night to pee just let him go and don't engage him at all.

Good luck it is just a phase. Be happy he trained so quickly :)

DS will be 3 in July. He has been trained for 3-4 weeks now and accident free during the day. Night is a completely different story. We have to wake him up every three hours to pee and he still has accidents when we don't get there "in time". I guess he has a small bladder. We don't use pull ups but this is just killing me. We are expecting twins in July and are already sleep deprived.
