VENT - Dear MIL and FIL.........

..............I just wanted to remind you that your first granddaughter was born on Sept. 19th. I thought maybe you may have forgotten since you have not seen her in over 2 weeks nor have you called to see how she is in over a week. I mean EVERYONE we know, family and friends, have been here to see her and call constantly to see how we're doing but I know that might be too much for you because you're so very busy watching TV and doing nothing all week. I know it's really asking a lot for you to take an interest in your only grandchild but I was hoping you might find the time to give your son a call and perhaps come see the baby before she graduates from high school. Call me crazy but I just thought you might have wanted to take an interest in this baby's life but I can see that is not the case. Thank goodness for Emerson that she has at least one set of grandparents, that would be my wonderful parents, who live to see her and would do anything and everything for her. Anyway, just wanted to remind you and if you would like to actually get to know your granddaughter and come see her you know where to find us.

As sad as it is, some grandparents don't get all mushy and gung ho about their grandchildren. I don't get that though.

My IL's call once in awhile and will ask for updates on DD, but have no patience to listen to us tickle her and make her laugh or listen to her try to talk while my Mom can listen to it for hours and laugh herself at what DD is doing.

My friends IL's could not get into their son until he was walking and talking (basically when they could relate to him).

I am so sorry you are going through this. Your beautiful little girl should be fawned over by everyone

I picture this being my life in a few months!!! The thing is-your DH must feel badly. Here he is all excited and most likely wishing his parents were as excited!! Hang in there......maybe they'll come around....and if not then it's their loss!!!

We are totally in your boat. DD only has one grandparent...and well let's just say DD has to fit into my MIL busy's schedule.

Thanks!! I just think it's SO sad. I just assumed that as grandparents they would be ga-ga over her and want to see her whenever they can and call to see how she is but so far.......nothing!! Meanwhile, my parents are over constantly, they call all the time, they can't get enough of her. On top of that my parents have helped us out, brought us dinner, watched her so we would nap, bought her gifts, gave us flowers in the hospital, and more and then my in-laws.........again, NOTHING!! Not even a card congratulating us on her birth. I mean c'mon, you're the grandparents for goodness sake. It's just crazy to me because my side of the family is so not like that and I feel bad for my DH that his family is so disinterested. I'm just really disappointed by them and the longer it continues the more animosity I have towards them. It just bothers me!!
