Re: Valley Stream North High School
I am an alum of Willow Road Elementary and VSN. Class of 93. My mom still lives in town. It is a nice Italian/American neighborhood. To the poster who has cousins in the school getting into fights every week? Maybe its your cousins who are the trouble makers? Just a thought. Home values are still pretty high from what I understand, so how poor can the schools REALLY be? Is it Jericho? NO. But it isn't Roosevelt either. Jeez.

Valley Stream North High School
Eatingmyveggies - you hit the nail on the head.
The neighborhood has changed is just code for racial diversity. Has crime increased? Have the schools begun to underperform? These are the questions people should ask and they should back their answers with fact, not opinion.
North is not more dangerous, in fact it is much safer than it once was. Back in the 80s when it was an all white school there were fraternities that fought and reeked havoc throughout the school community. There are isolated fights, but nothing like what is being described. It is a good school, a school that reflects the diversity that now exists throughout the United States. It is reality.
As for valley stream, I recently met a very interesting man who is the owner of sip this, a coffee shop on rockaway where slipped disc once stood. He is the leader of an organization aimed to engage and improve th VS community - I believe it's called envision Valley Stream. He'a headed in the right direction and anyone in the area should definitely check him out.

Yes! When I was younger, I sometimes hung out with (and went to school with one of them) a few of the people who lead this group and work in this group. It's great, and they do a lot for the community!
