Update: Steam Mop. Shark VS Bissell

I just bought a Steam Mop by Shark and I don't think my floors have ever looked so clean.

How many of you steam your floors instead of using a mop or swiffter?

UPDATE:

I just bought the Bissell because I didn't like the Shark that much even though it did a fine job... I have to tell you that I must say the Bissell is amazing... I had one really bad stain on the vinyl floor in the laundry room and the Bissell removed. I went over it a few time when I had the Shark but it wouldn't remove it.. Hands down the Bissell is better and right now it looks like Home Depot is the only place that has it. Fit and finish is better and it comes with 2 Micro Fiber mop while the other had 2 cheap cotton mops.

I just got this mop recently and I love it! I don't think the Swiffer really gets your floor clean and the mop and bucket are just a PITA.

I was just thinking about steaming my floors.

Does it work good?

What about the grout of tiles?

The Shark Steam Mop Website

Does it work good. On hard surfaces yes it works good.

But on the grout I wouldn't give it high marks. I haven't found anything that cleans grout..

Very easy to use, it's almost like it's works by itself. No button to press or hold down. When your in the mop mod it turns on by itself and when it's upright it's turns off.

Me neither- I feel like it just pushes dirt around...I feel the same way about a mop and bucket- SO, I clean my floors with spray and a rag.

That's what I do in my bathroom.

I have to look into this steamer thingy. I was thinking about hiring a steaming co to do the job.

Re: I can eat off my floors now that my floors are so clean...

I've never heard of this before...

Can it be used on wood floors, or just tile? Is there a cleaning solution in it or just the steam cleans the floors?

If I had to do it all over again I would have bought this one by Bissell... Click Here

Click on the video link on that website.

Or try HSN... Click Here

So you're saying that you would get the Bissell as opposed to the Shark?

Anyone try it on shiny tile floors? Does it leave streaks?

Yes, one reason I like the Bissell over the Shark. The Bissell has a swivel head for hard to reach areas like behind the toilet.. I couldn't get my Shark behind it.

Re: I can eat off my floors now that my floors are so clean...

From the reviews on HSN, most people like it. But there are plenty that say the heating element died after only a few uses and that the replacement filters for the water are expensive and leaves streaks.

I know no one will ever be completely satisfied, but I think the heating element should last more than 6 uses or a year as in some cases. Must be a production problem there with Bissell - maybe the new model will be refined?
