Re: Unplanned PG Spinoff

I actually had a male friend talk to me about this topic. He was very upset after talking with his girlfriend about if she got pregnant, would he have a say. She said no, he was upset, because he is very pro-life and would want her to have the baby. Then he asked me, "what would you say to a boyfriend if he told you that if you ever got pregnant you had to have an abortion?" I said, "I would tell him he should be dating someone else."

I think part of the problem is many people don't have these discussions until after the fact, and don't realize that they may feel very differently about it.

The man needs to have a say, but if she doesn't want the kid, then he needs to be prepared for the full brunt

Re: Unplanned PG Spinoff

I think the man should have an opinion and a say to some extent..
He can tell her how he would plan to help her or not help her and stuff to help her make up her mind but ultimatley its her body so its her choice I guess..

Re: Unplanned PG Spinoff

Honestly-- unless the couple is ready to have a child together, they need to think long and hard about what their decision would be. The man, unfortunately can always choose to walk away. Regardless, having a child does fall more on the side of the woman. Therefore, I believe she should be able to have veto power if she is not comfortable with how the man feels.

But this is what pisses me off in the other scenario

here yo have the guy wanting the "responisiblity"
but the woman DOES NOT....

WHY isn't she forced into the responisbility like a man would be in the reverse?

Why is it the man is expected to do whatever the woman chooses?

Re: Unplanned PG Spinoff

Because you cant force a woman to carry a child to term if they dont want to.. any more then you can force a man to stand by a woman who he got pregnant.

I think part of the problem is many people don't have these discussions until after the fact, and don't realize that they may feel very differently about it.

I was going to say the same thing. If you are going to have sex with someone, then have the responsibility to have that discussion. I know JT and I had it from very early on in our relationship, before we ever had sex.

very true

but in the end, discussion or not...

it really doesn't matter...

Because ultimately it is the womans choice ALONE

Re: Unplanned PG Spinoff

I always felt that even though the man has some responsibilities not to get the woman pregnant it was ultimatley the woman that should be the most responsible since its THEIR body....
Not all men ( expecially with a 1 night stand) are gonna be concerned as sad as that is about an unwanted pregnancy..but the woman ALWAYS should be responsible

Then maybe this will force women to be more cautious of their bodies and who they sleep with

I don't think it's ultimately the woman's choice alone, DEPENDING UPON the situation. Honestly, if it's a one night stand, then yes, it is my decision alone. If it is a long term relationship I am in, I could not bare that decision alone. If I did not want the baby, but my SO did, I would really consider their feelings and decide together what the options were.

Because she is the one who carries the baby. Its her body that the baby grows in- that is why. You cannot force someone to have a baby for 9 months that they don't want.
