I don't know about any of you, but I truly wish client services would make some of these boards private.
I thought that these boards were a safe place for us to talk about the struggles and joys we are going through together.
It makes me sad to know that anyone can view/post/read everything we say and it's such a private thing.
Not just here but on TTC after MC especially...just my 2 cents.
Sorry just venting.

I agree with you. The relationship board is locked and can only be seen if you are logged in....
I think that the rest of the boards should be as well.... TTC, TTC after Miscarriage and Pregnancy are super sensitive topics and I know that I get so much support and comfort here, and is a great outlet and source of info.... but I would feel better knowing not everyone can see what is being said (wish you had to log on to see).

it wouldnt bother me if they were private like the relationship board... but still all you have to do is log in to see it... its not that difficult if someone really wants to see whats going on

it doesn't bother me that much, if I wanted to remain anonymous, I'd just make another screen name...
but to make everyone happy, these boards could be locked like the relationship board.

I'm brand new to this whole forum and still finding my way around, so maybe someone can explain the difference between the locked board and this? I also feel like I don't need everyone I know knowing my business about TTC and my 3 losses and wouldn't feel comfortable posting pics for these reasons either.

all the boards are open to the public except relationships so if you really want to keep things to yourself then just dont post otherwise try to hide your identity as much as possible.

Yeah, what difference would it make if you were logged in? Anyone can get an account.
I think it would be because they would have to take the "extra step" to see the posts.

The OP is wanting her posts to be private from other members not the general public......so what do You do to police the ttc/miscarriage booards....have prove you are ttc.....that Is just absurd.
Just don't post if You don't want others to give their opinion.

They have more private forums that you pay for like on Fertility friend if you are more comfortable posting there. It isn't expensive and no one can see the posts unless you pay money.

If you are uncomfortable posting on a PUBLIC forum, then just keep your identity private. Make a second name if you are TTC and don't want people to know who you are. It's not that difficult. If boards were locked I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be that hard for anyone to gain access to them considering this is a public forum.

You know what, I think people don't truly understand that what they post here is forever on cyberspace. Unless, you go back and erase everything you wrote, but even still people quote you. Do a google search of your screen name and I guarantee all your old posts will appear. Don't put up pics or personal info. and 99.9% of people won't know who you are on here.

And I guess I cant post here anymore cause I am no longer TTC since I have moved on. People lurk here whether they are TTC and dont want to post or are already PG or might be thinking about TTC or are just plain board and hopped over from D & F......you can't control that and if you are that sensitive about what you post then dont post.

What makes TTC so secretive? What about the finance board or the parenting board where people are talking about KIDS and other stuff? I would think that would need to be more private that TTC.
With that being said, if you're not comfortable, then simply don't post about it or anything else for that matter on this public forum. That's the only solution. I'm not sure why you feel your feelings trump everyone elses or lay the rules of the LIF land.
Additionally, I may not be TTC yet, but I lurk all the boards every so often just to see what's going on. TTC mostly because I love how supportive everyone (usually) is and I didn't hear about LIF until I was already pregnant so I missed out on all this fun excitement people get when someone new comes on or gets a BFP. This is a new board to me, one that I will possibly frequent when it's my time again. Do you lurk on pregnancy to see what its like over there, what the girls are feeling, what you might go through when pregnant? Or god forbid you head to the parenting board to see what its like over there to have a child and what the struggles and fun we go through over there? Hope not, because you don't belong. I could say if you do, that you freak me out lurking & reading about our kids when you don't have any. But I can tell you one thing, I wouldn't say anything if you had, but I will if you do.
But with your rules, I'm not even allowed over here so take my two cents with a grain of salt.

i completely agree with you alli... and your other post too.
if you want privacy then don't post on chat boards. period. there's nothing private about them.... even if they are "member's only" there's still a TON of member's who can read what you post. You can't tell someone they can and cannot post on a board either. and you can't selectively block people from seeing what you write. if you don't want it seen, then don't write it... if you only want a select few people to see what you write then FM them.
I lurk on TTC all the time! I spent a very long time on TTC and I feel attached to some of the girls on here... so I like to come on and see who's getting their BFP's. I also like to come on to give advice on the CBEFM and other stuff that I've been through. Don't like it? Tough. I don't plan on stopping.
Having been on the pregnancy board for some time made me grow an attachment there so i like to go on and see the girls I was pregnant with and what they are up to in their pregnancies and who had their babies, etc.
People who are preparing for TTC or pregnancy will lurk i'm sure!! just to get to know what it's all about and learn a few things. Before I had a baby I lurked on parenting here and there too.
And I had a MC back in 09... I still post there too.
bottom line is... people have many different reasons for posting or lurking on boards and just because you may not know or understand them doesn't mean they can't read or post there. everyone has the same right to read and post where they wish. if you choose not to then that's you, but you can't take someone elses right to do so away.
you also can't post openly and then expect people to not respond to you.. if you don't want responses then why bother posting?
IDK I just don't understand this mentality.
Maybe twitter is more private... I don't have a twitter account so IDK.. but perhaps that might be better for you.

These boards are private in the sense that no one knows who you are unless you reveal yourself. Personally I never post pics of myself, my DH and will not post pics of my son when he is born. I will not post what we name him. I do not want a friend/family/acquiantance logging in seeing my pics and knowing my business--that is me--some people do not mind I do.
My point is unless you reveal yourself these boards CAN BE and for many people ARE private. I am just some pregnant girl that lives in Queens, I can be anyone
