Ugh...would you feel bad?

I know its not a big deal, but someone just rang my doorbell (no one ever comes to our door)

Asking if we'd be interested in lawn care, and I said oh my husband does it, but I asked him for a flyer...he said he doesn't have one but we could exchange phone numbers....

I said oh, no, I"m sorry...(I just feel weird giving out our home phone number)

So he left but I feel bad, w/the economy so bad, maybe he has no job and is looking for any kind of work....I would have taken a flyer and considered it, I just don't know about giving out our phone number

you did the right thing. If he had a flyer it would have been a different story. I would not give our my phone number to someone i did not know

I just feel so bad for people out of work right now, and the economy in general....people who are struggling and are either just making it or not making it

no. I would have done the same thing.

I might have taken HIS number just to be nice, but I wouldn't give him mine...

Yuuuuuup

that's more safe IMO -- no need to "exhchange" numbers -- why are you gonna call me if I probably won't need your service? I'd rather have his number and then I could give it to others if they need lawn care service

I wouldn't feel bad at all. You did the right thing, the SAFE thing. The wackos out there WANT you to feel bad for them. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Something just seems fishy about him, if he was going door-to-door promoting his business WHY wouldn't he have a flyer or a business card, hmmmm?? Chat Icon

Yeah, that's what bothered me...he had no card or flyer? He was holding a cup of coffee though...it was really strange

I'm really private and don't even open the door to people who come to solicit. I hate it, and I feel like if I want something, I'll go out into the world and find it. I would never give a strange guy any information about me--especially if he were standing in my doorway.
