Ugh - I don't know where this goes so bear with me please
I have always had very short cycles. I have a short LP (8-10 days) AND I O early so when I was a teen I was getting AF every 2-3 weeks I went on BCP, then NuvaRing, and everything was great.
After having DD, I got the Mirena. Aside from other side effects that I am not crazy about, I'm back to having AF every 2-3 weeks. It's light, which is great, but so annoying.
I don't care about hormones, but the idea of using birth control that I have to "think about" is aggravating to me. It's why I love the Mirena. Plus there's no stupid co-pay every month.
I know that it's not normal to be getting AF so often but I don't know what else to do. Any ideas?
(I don't want to call my OB unless I have a plan because the practice is not close to my house and it is a PITA to get a good appointment time.)

No sugguestions.. I just got my mirena this week.
Some say they got no periods at ALL after they got it. He didn't imply that with me. Sorta of suggested it would continue as 'normal' but lighter.

Could your cycle still be adjusting to it? How long did they say that takes?

How long have you had the Mirena? I spotted for what seemed like months (it was only a month), and then my periods were very light and then have been nonexistent for the past 4 years. If you keep bleeding every few weeks, it's probably not a period, but break through bleeding since the level of hormones is so little. Would the Paraguard be a better option for you? I chose Mirena since I had heavy periods and this was the best thing for me. I love it!

Re: Ugh - I don't know where this goes so bear with me please
I've had the Mirena for almost 6 months now - since the beginning of May.
I know that it's AF, not spotting, because I get O pains, so I can tell when I O and I am getting AF 8-10 days later. I did have a lot of spotting and breakthrough bleeding in the beginning but that stopped after about 4 months or so.

Can I ask what the other side effects are that you aren't crazy about? I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm curious of what side effects may be coming.
