UGGH, MY SON IS NOT A CHEW TOY!!!

Andrew received his 5th bite in the last month at day care! Chat Icon Chat Icon

4 bites were from a psycho little girl who has since been kicked out. Now a new little boy bit him on the back while playing in the sandbox.

Thankfully (and it seems weird to type that) I am losing my job at the end of July and will be able to be home with him until January.

I am so tired of hearing biting is 'age appropriate behavior'

Anyway, I just wanted to vent. Thanks.

I used to work in daycare and this was always such a frustrating situation because what can you do?! However, one parent took it into her own hands... she took her little biter home that night and lo and behold the biter bit her mom!! Well, the mom didn't miss a beat and bit her right back... that child NEVER bit again.. It seems so harsh, but it worked.

Hope your little bitee is feeling better.

Yes, DH has been practicing with him on his 'take downs', biting back and overall punching skills! I think DH really had a hard time with the first offender being a girl! Not that I want a bully for a son either...

My girlfriend did the same thing! She used to watch my son for me - my son was about a year old at the time - her son was a little over 2 - her son bit mine (really hard!) - she went over to her son and bit him!
He too, never bit again. Chat Icon

I hope your little guy is feeling better!

Re: UGGH, MY SON IS NOT A CHEW TOY!!!

Five times seems so excessive...
I would be a little wary on the daycare and how they are disciplining and teaching kids how to channel their anger...

Bella got bit this week, but I can't see it happening 5 times and they made me feel confident that they would work on it not happening again

Kids will be kids, but yikes.

It does seem to work my moms doctor told her to do it to my brother and she did this was 25 yrs ago lol and same with my friend and I did it a yr ago to my son and he never bit again either. It does sound harsh but doing it once is better then them biting other kids all the time.

First bite it was just Andrew saying it was that little girl, with no witnesses -- so that one 'didn't count'.

Second bite her parents were called and they had a conference at the center where it was decided the little girl needed a 'leave' from the center for a bit. She was asked to stay home for 1 1/2 weeks.

Third and fourth bites happened the day after her return. She bit Andrew in the playground and supposedly as they were calling her parents to have her picked up, and cleaning Andrew's bloody bite mark, she ran up and bit him again in the arm! Nightmare.

Anyway, overall their policy seems to be OK. I think this girl was the extreme.

With this new biter, his parents were called and told what he did.
