Two random parenting questions...

#1 What would possess an otherwise sane person to serve rice at dinner (and multiple times no less!) to children under the age of 10? Also...did you know that it's hilarious when you stick the individual grains to your face?

#2 Are there any parents who are NOT alcoholics?

Discuss...

Re: Two random parenting questions...

But rice is so much fun to play with and watch mommy clean it up (or try to) after

And I am not an alcoholic (yet) but if these 1 yr old tantrums don't stop I might become one. I am sorry to my dd that I told no to that she couldn't play with the oven cleaner bottle. Empty or not she wasn't getting it.

A. I serve rice in part because it's one of about 4 foods DS will actually eat.

B. I believe you know my answer Chat Icon

Re: Two random parenting questions...

I can't speak to the rice but let me tell you at almost 1 year old, my DD can make a mess out of just about ANYTHING I serve her.
The other day I had to clean mashed potatoes out of her nose.

And for question #2- I am totally, 100%, a functioning alcoholic- yes! Chat Icon

#1 My kids LOVE rice and I deal with the clean-up because I figure at least they are eating healthy food Chat Icon

#2 I am well known for my fully stocked wine and liquor table. It surprises me on a daily basis when I hear people say that having an alcohol drink is a TREAT or something only done on weekends. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Two random parenting questions...

So my DH gives rice to my <1 year old! What can I say?? Most days he's finished with dinner by the time I walk in the door, but I'm the one who cleans the highchair and the floor.

3 constants in my house: Beer, wine & grey goose (and limes for the vodka)

Although the grey goose is usually reserved for the weekends. Usually.
