Re: TV or No TV in the bedroom?

Well first off.... I thought I said earlier my plasma was a 720p plasma.

But he said spending 3gs on an EDTV plasma was dumb.

True.

But the plasma link I posted.... was a HDTV plasma... for $2600. Killer deal.

And if you would have READ my post... I posted a link to the Costco plasma I wanted.

And that was the whole basis of why it doesn't make any sense to buy LCD if you want 50" or higher. Its just NOT worth it when you can get 50" HDTV plasma for UNDER 3gs.

He said to go LCD.

#1... you can't readily get LCD at 50" or greater (unless you order direct from japan with no warranty - yeah ok)

#2... definitely NOT cost-effective (15k for a TV compared to $2600 - decision made)

#3... people tend to believe plasma "myths" which frankly arent true

Re: TV or No TV in the bedroom?

And I am not even going to disagree saying LCD is bad.

LCD is GREAT. Its just not cost effective.

But his posts about "gas recharging" and "guaranteed burn-in"... simply not true.

And Mr. Cablevision... I expect to be the first person notified once you hear Cablevision will start to broadcast 1080p.

If you are still working there in the two years it will probably take them... maybe i'll invest THEN in a 1080p television.

all of the above, does not make him wrong. it's just what YOU wouldn't do. you wouldn't spend that kind of $$, or order direct w/o a warranty...but somebody else just might.

And for the record... I always take "what the makers say" with a grain of salt.

If I want real answers... i go to other owners.

And right now the other owners are saying that Vizio 50" plasma that Costco has on sale has EXCELLENT picture quality. Just about as good as Panasonic (who makes the best Plasmas).

So I am really on the fence over whether or not I should get it. Chat Icon
