ttc and weight loss
so we've been ttc'ing for over 6 months now with no luck. i feel our biggest obstacle is that we are both very overweight. we are working on it, but the progress is very very slow and it's difficult to stay motivated. we're thinking of trying Sensa to help us out a bit.
my questions: do you think it's safe to use while ttc? (i would stop as soon as i got a bfp)
anyone hear anything about it and ttc? any side effects? dangers?
i'm doing research but figured i'd ask here as well.
TIA!

ttc and weight loss
I am sorry you guys are having a hard time. I don't know anything about using sensa while ttc but my mom tried it recently and it didn't work for her. She thought it was a bunch of bs. So def look in to it a little more. She went on weight watchers and was very successful. Have you looked in to the WW program? Good luck! I wish you all the best :)

Re: ttc and weight loss
I've never tried Sesna so I have no experience. But usually those things are gimmicks and don't produce many results.
I think being that you are both over weight, it can actually benefit you in some way. It will be easier to get a diet plan together and stick to it. Moral support. No extra food in the house.
I did WW a few times and when my DH did it with me, I was always successful and found it to be easy. When he didn't do it with me, I'd lose a few pounds and find myself struggling to not fall into the eating traps that he was in.
Talk to him about joining WW. It really is a great program that is super easy to follow. It works and the support from meetings is great.
Best of luck!

Re: ttc and weight loss
I haven't tried Sensa, but I probably would avoid taking it while TTC. Its a new product and you never know what will come out about it in the future. Diet products are notorious for being found unsafe later (PhenPhen, Stacker IIs, etc.).
WW is great! I have done it a few times and always lost on it. Plus it teaches more management skills, which will be good for you and your when you are pregnant. The meetings are really helpful too!

Re: ttc and weight loss
thanks ladies.
the problem with WW is the time i do not have. i can't make meetings because by the time i'm done with the day and have free time it's 9pm or later. getting to a computer every time i put something in my mouth is also difficult. does anyone know if they have an app for blackberry? i may try that, but counting points and measuring food seems like a lot of work.

Not sure about a BB app, but I know they have iPhone and Android. I use myfitnesspal.com to track calories. They also have an app. Good luck!

I don't want to be a pain but WW really works I lost 20 pounds of it Writing down everything you eat not matter if you count points or calories is good for you makes you accountable For what you are eating

You can do it online (use their site for support instead of the meetings) and when you do WW online, you can go to it through your phone. I did with my blackberry and again with my iPhone.
Give them a call, they will explain how that all works. I'll be honest, the first 2 weeks or so it's a bit tricky and you HAVE to find the time to put in. But eventually, you wind up eating the same stuff all the time and you know how many points everything is just based on experience.
Even though I don't follow WW as of right now, when I eat something, I'l have in the back of my mind - that was 5 points lol

I totally agree with WW!!! I also do not have time for the meetings and they have a GREAT app so look for it! I would trust a WL program like this bc it's based on healthy eating and lifestyle. Plus it's gradual WL, not fast, so it's healthier for your body. Many times, rapid WL can impact your cycle! On a side note, I also use MyfitnessPal app. It's similar to WW but it just tracks your caloric intake and many find it easier than WW. I would look into both and see what works for you. I actually learned so much from being on WW and I feel much healthier- still not totally skinny, but I feel really good and have more energy. Good luck!

I know it is hard to get used to, but you really do! I am part of a WW support group on FB so that helps also. Both WW and MFP apps really make it easy for you.

I know someone who took Sensa. He said that it screwed up his digestive system.

I hate ww but that is just my sole opinion. My DH is a personal trainer and nutritionist(unconventional) and I understand the science behind loosing weight. Most people don't have the time or just don't want to write everything down, but I'm the flip side loosing weight is work and you have to be able to put it iin. Counting calories is terrible since it implies a eat whatever you want and still loose weight. Have you ever tried staying away from whites/breads/grains? I think that is the easiest since there is no counting involved. Also can you get in a good exercise routine with weights one time per week targeting your full body? Maybe start Parkin your car further when you go to work or the store. Little changes yield big results that last.

It sounds like you're already talking yourself out if it by saying that WW won't work. That means you might not be ready to lose weight, because Sensa is a fix quick gimmick,
If you really want to lose weight you'll do whatever you need to do. I use the WW app for my phone. You can also try My Fitness Pal app. I also suggest reading Never Say Diet by Chantel Hobbs.

Re: ttc and weight loss
I'm on ww. I use the app on my phone. Already down 9.4. I have a ways to go. I think its good to get your body healthy for the upcoming baby. I know I can't do ww when I get pg but I hopefully learning these skills now will help me not gain too much weight when I do become pg
