TTC and Tea??
I know green tea prohibits your body's absorbtion of folic acid, which is bad for women TTC. But what about black tea? (1 8-oz cup?) Is that bad for us too?

I agree about the green tea, but I haven't heard anything about black tea, well except the amount of caffeine. I have a cup of black tea every morning (drinking it now). I try to switch between decaf and regular while TTC, but I haven't heard that we shouldn't drink it.

I had a problem with DS#1 and a neural tube defect. I was on extra folic acid for DS#2 and was told no green tea because it MAY take away the folate from babies.
I found this article , but other articles claim there are no studies.

I have read that green tea can prevent the body from absorbing folic acid. I still have a cup now and again b/c the health benefits of it overrall are so great IMO.

Thanks.. i just read that article linked above and it seems to be that it refers to when you're actually pregnant, not TTC'ing
And yes, as with everything, don't over do it 
i'm not going to stop drinking it while TTC'ing but maybe cut back a little until i actually get pregnant

could you imagine six cups of ANY tea daily? I wouldnt have TIME to get pregnant with all teh trips to the bathroom!

Thank you! I have to watch my caffeine - I was a coffee fanatic - and when I found out green tea *may* cause a problem, I wanted to eliminate it altogether. (Though I didn't realize that you needed to drink six cups!) But I need to have something; I work with teenagers all day. Can't do that caffeine-free!
