TTC and on BC. . .

yeah you heard me right. DH and I keep talking about TTC, when we BD I think about TTC but I am addicted to my BC pill and petrified to come off - I just started a new pack and poor DH was so confused. I just can't make that final leap!

I was in your boat a month ago. We had been talking about TTC for a very long time but I could never bring myself to not take that pill. Every month I would hope I would somehow get pregnant, but of course it never happened. DH was more than annoyed that I wouldn't stop taking it. Finally I told myself it was time to get real. This is our first month TTC and it feels so good to know that there is a real chance I could be pregnant. It's just a strange feeling to go from preventing pregnancy for all those years to trying to get pregnant.

I was in your boat as well....but now I wish I would've stopped the pill sooner. I always thought I'd regulate immediately and we would TTC immediately...but it's been 53 days since I stopped, and no AF. My suggestion...definitely stop the pill before you're 100% ready...you can always use a back-up!

For me, stopping BC is that final step that acknowledges that we are finally ready and wanting to get pregnant. It's DEF a leap and as much as I've had baby fever this past year, we also had reservations (all the worries that come along with planning for and having a child) but we know that we may never NOT have those worries because I think it's just human nature to want to be a good parent, raise your children to be good people, to want a healthy child, and to know that as a parent you will ALWAYS worry. Once we accepted that, we knew we were ready to start planning. Not sure if any of that helps you, but if you really want to TTC, just make the leap because it will always be nerve wracking!

I had a hard time, too. I toyed with going off for several months and then at the last minute would cave and refill my pack. I finally stopped in May and I'm glad I did. Like Koi said, for some of us, it takes awhile to get back on track. My first AF w/o BCP came on CD51. Now I'm CD23 hoping it's a normal cycle this month, so we can officially start trying.

If you'd like to delay for a few months, I would consider going off now and using a backup method, so hopefully when you're really ready, so is your body.

The thing is when I just SWITCHED to a new pill a few months ago, I bled heavily for 30+ days and passed out and everything, it was terrible. I am going to Italy at the end of August and I am petrified that if I go off, and AF comes like that AGAIN - I will have the worst time. So, I keep using the end of August/ beginning of September as my timeline.

If I figured it out correctly, I would be taking the last active pill in the pack on the last day before I come home. . .so that would be perfect.

I am just a planner. . . and in this case it is driving me nuts!!!

I bled like a stuck hog when I went on BC bills (which is why I NEVER tried another one. I was a maniac.) but was fine once I stopped taking them.

for me, it took about 3 months for my body to regulate off the pill

some people get pregnant right away

i have to say i would do it sooner rather than later
i regret starting a family at my age :(

i was the opposite. wanted to go off BCP months ago but DH wasnt ready. finally he is ready and i went off may 1 and havent gotten AF since . for some people it takes time so you may not get PG right away.

I have been TTC for a while now and this is the first time that I think I got the hit days (sorry cant get the lingo down yet) right and the reality just set in. I started to think about all these questions. And to know that other girls have the same feeling is great. I threw the BC pills out right after the wedding but I think subconsciously missed the Hit days cause of fear. Regardless of my desire for . (also everyone I meet tells me I am going to have twins.And I have no idea why they say that.

Thats how I felt too.. and now, I have a beautiful DD... I truly believe I never would have been ready for a child... I just had to go for it.. and once she was here... I was totally ready and I love the change... but I understand why it is so hard... Please.. when I went to the dr to get prenatal Vitamins because I was thinking of TTC.... I thought I was doing something wrong!!!!

I was off BC for almost a year before TTC...I was so happy to get off. I hated not knowing when AF would come...but I felt so much better emotionally off it. Plus it was amazing to figure out how my body worked and stuff. Also...to make things better my libido got much higher once I got off...DH Liked that! But you certainly have to do what's right for you. my doctor said to be off BC 3 months before actually TTC...

i was on the pill for 10 years..last year i went off in february...i was told to wait 3 cycles before really trying. I got pregnant almost a full year later.

I was like a junkie w/o their drugs. I kept asking for one more month..one more month..LOL. sometimes i still catch myself reminding myself to take my pills..LOL

It was a big security blanket for me and taking that leap to actually try to get pregnant is scary. but if you really want it, you'll do it!
