TTC after giving birth to DC

My DD will turn 4 months and my DH and I have decided to TTC again.
It took so long to conceive my DD and I'm afraid that I will have the same problem this time around. What should I do? Anyone in this same situation.

Obviously no one can tell you what to do - it's a personal decision. In retrospect, it didn't take me THAT long to conceive and I was lucky enough to conceive without any intervention, but it wasn't easy (6 months or so the first time which ended in a m/c and then 3 months for the 2nd pg). So, I do take that into consideration and hope my journey isn't quite as long this time around, but I try to be realistic about it.

How long did it take you to conceive #1?

Do you have any known problems? Did you need medical intervention? If not for these, then you really never know! You could get pregnant you first month trying.. or it could take longer.

I think the rule of thumb is 6 months for someone over 35, 1 year for someone under 35 - before seeking help. Of course if you have any known issues like a luteal phase defect, thryoid problems, PCOS, etc.. you can seek help earlier.

I'd definitely give it at least 3 months of REAL trying if you're over 35 (meaning pinpointing when you ovulate and timing your BD around that) before thinking anything was wrong.

I would try for 3 months and then see your OB

I was trying for 4 months, not realizing that with my short LP, it was going to be VERY hard to concieve (I know it has happened to others with a short LP) but I did not want to wait around,. I saw my OB, she prescribed me Clomid and it worked on the first month

Did you have a vaginal or c-section? I would depends on a lot of factors (your health history, how your pregnancy went, are you BF? etc..)

Honestly, I personally think 4 months is too early to TTC again. But that "ME".

I think you should discuss with you OB and ask for their input/opinion but in the end it is really a decision you and your DH will have to make for what works best for your family.
