True Story from the ER

I was visiting my grandmother at the hospital tonight and one of the nurse's told me a true story from the ER that happened just a few days ago.

Two lesbians came into the ER (I know it sounds like a joke, but it's really not). One had her period and was complaining of severe cramping. They couldn't figure it out, so they needed to take an Xray or something. They told her she needed to take a pregnancy test before they could take the Xray. She refused, saying she hadn't slept with a man in years and knew she wasn't pregnant. They told her she had to, so she did. The test comes back positive. Her girlfriend started flipping out on her. She swore up and down she didn't sleep with a man and couldn't possibly be pregnant. So then they tell her they need to do a pelvic exam. Well, the baby was CROWNING!

Is that not a crazy story? She is an athlete and her stomach was only swollen on one side, so she just thought it was something minor and didn't bother to go to the doctor until the pain from labor (what she thought was cramps) was unbearable. She was getting her period the whole time too. She thought her stomach was just upset when the baby would move. Baby was 7 pounds and change. Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with the baby. In fact, the night before she was out drinking and doing cocaine. Luckily the baby is healthy. It's a crazy story, but makes me sad that people out there want to have babies so bad and then stuff like this happens.

Re: True Story from the ER

I don't understand how she didn't know she was pregnant. She had to know. Wouldn't have she felt kicking or something inside, I don't think kicking and that bubbling feeling would feel like cramps. She was probably playing stupid and refused the test because she knew she was.

First of all, I couldn't agree more.

Secondly, I know someone who was PG and didn't know for six months. She was slightly overweight and she had pains in her stomach, plus it started to feel hard...she went to the Dr. finally and took a PG test - came back positive. She was very worried about the baby cuz she was taking BCP's the whole time. Apparently she forgot to take a pill one night, doubled up the next day but got PG anyway.
She is now the mother of a healthy 2 year old boy.....

Re: True Story from the ER

Lesbian athlete who was having regular periods. Hadn't been with a man in years, was very much in shape, but didn't notice all of that weight gain. The athlete was also drinking and doing coke (and admitting it). Is there a coincidence that all of this happened on April 1st?

Re: True Story from the ER

I've sadly heard of a story similar where the woman didn't know she was pregnant. Rushed to the ER only to find out she was in labor.

How can anyone be so out of tune with their body?? I am pg now and the changes my body has been through and continue to go through are not anything I could ever ignore.

Then you have people like this who one oops and a wham bam thank you ma'am and they're a mama!? Meanwhile look at all the women out there who are truly trying everything in their power to be blessed with such a miracle.

So sad. Chat Icon

It actually happened 3 or 4 days ago she said. Unfortunately, it's not a joke. Chat Icon

I have to admit is seems far fetched to me too. She may have said it happened a few days before, but the story was told on 4/1.
