Travelocity

Has anyone else had issues with them? I used them 3 times and all 3 times they were nice big resorts with beautiful rooms and were put in the "dungeon of dungeon rooms". 2/3 times we thankfully complained to mngmnt and they took care of it and the third time we declined staying on the premesis and lost our $. This weekend I almost lost it. Our bathroom was situated on a hwy and I could hear the cars drive by. Looked like the bates motel yet Ive stayed at this resort a million times and didnt know this area of the property existed. It was horrible! Long story short, I complained and they did nothing. I called travelocity to which they were able to have us only transfer to the good side of the property for one night. Eventually the mngr called us back and said we could stay both nights on the good side. Never will I be using travelocity again.

Re: Travelocity

We used them to book our flights within Greece for our honeymoon. One of the flights got canceled months before our trip and they never let us know (although they said they left a message, they couldn't tell us when). We got stranded overnight in Athens and had to fight with them to put us up in a hotel. The hotel was a dump, and even the person at reception told us we shouldn't walk around outside by ourselves (he walked us to get some food a few blocks over, since we missed eating dinner dealing with travelocity). It was a nightmare and we wound up losing a night (at $300) at our hotel in Mykonos due to their screw up. We will never use them again.

Re: Travelocity

That's awful. I've never used travelocity, but I have used hotwire. I've actually gotten to some really nice places through hotwire. I say to always read the fine print when booking with one of those sites. you're often ineligible for any upgrades you might have otherwise gotten, sometimes you are treated like a 2nd class citizen. I do remember complaining about something once and the hotel staff told me to complain to hotwire, they can't do anything about it.

Were you able to get anything back from travelocity? I'm thinking of thse hotels.com commericals where they end up at a dump (maybe this is a reference to travelocty),and talk about how hotels.com has a guarantee.

What you really need to look out for are cancellation policies. I know with Disney some people come to me after checking online sites, and 1) it's never usually a real savings over what you can get by yourself or through a TA 2) Sometimes things that would normally be included are not. For example, I saw some online Disney deals that didn't include Disney's Magical Express if you checked the fine print, so any savings would be eaten up paying for airport transfers 3) You're totally locked in, you can't change it, even if you get a better discount in the mail or Disney or whatever vendor releases something better 4) your cancellation policy is often worse than booking normally.

Sometimes you CAN get great deals on hotel rooms and such through those sites, but I personally wouldn't use it for a big or international trip where I'd be stranded and i would definitely read the fine print 3x.

Thanks for the info!
I know that the fine print def read that if you DONT complain and use it they arent doing a thing. So I ended up sitting in the bathroom screaming at the guy on the phone so my kids didnt hear what was going on. Realistically the hotel itself accomodated us in the end. Which is bad for travelocity.

Re: Travelocity

When we complained to travelocity about the incident that happened to us they just kept offering us $150 vouchers, which we didn't want because we will NEVER use them again.

Most times the hotel rates they offer are the same price as booking through the hotel directly or other hotel sites so I never bother.

Re: Travelocity

Use priceline.. its awesome.. I did it two weeks ago and bid on a hotel and got an awesome hotel in Burlington for 25 percent less than the online price, and I just did it today for Paris and saved 200 dollars!!

You'll love it!

Re: Travelocity

The one and only time I used Travelocity was to find a cheapo hotel near Dorney Park when DH and I took my bro n sis away with us. WORST HOTEL EVER. It was a disgusting tiny room that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. And we found a bunch of pot in the ice bucket! Chat Icon We made the best of it and just laughed it off. But never again!

Re: Travelocity

I have enver used travelocity. I use hotels.com often and have used hotwire. I have had good experiences with both these sites and have gotten great rooms and rates.
