Transition from breast to bottle
Does anyone have recommendations on how to get DC to take BM from a bottle? My DD is 4 weeks old and I am starting to try her with a bottle. I will be going back to work and want to start weening her off a few feedings.
Also, I will be going out for a bit and DH will be taking care of her and I am so afraid she will scream her head off like she did tonight when we tried. I also tried 2 bottles and three nipples.
Born Free and Medela....
Suggestions??

Did you try pumping? It might be too much for her to introduce a bottle and new taste at the same time. I was lucky, DS has no problem with the transition.

I have used Dr. Brown bottles since DS was 3 weeks old and we had no problem with him going from breast to bottle and then back again.

We tried 4 different bottles before getting the right one. No advice other than keep trying.

same with my DD... she took the dr browns no problem... did you try just your DH giving her the bottle of BM with you out of the room? sometimes babies can smell you and wont take the bottle if they know the real deal is around...

Re: Transition from breast to bottle
DS really didn't like any bottles but the BreastFlow ones worked the best (they leak though).
Also, if the baby won't take anything when you're gone, have whoever's watching her feed her with a medicine dropper so at least she'll get something.

I did pump she is getting BM. Today she did better, maybe she was just super tired last night.

DS would not take anything but the Adiri bottle in the beginning. Afer a month or two on the Adiri Bottle, he moved to "regular" bottles.

Re: Transition from breast to bottle
The first bottle we tried was painful.. DS cried the entire time DH was trying to feed him. He started to take the next one a little better. We only tried Dr. Brown's because he would suck so I knew it wasn't the nipple. Don't know if you are switching to formula but I called my dr. to ask the easiest way to wean and she said to mix bm milk with formula. HTH
