Breast to bottle
I am returning to work in a few weeks and need to get 2 1/2 month old used to the bottle. I am pumping but will also need to introduce formula. DH is giving her the bottle but she cries through most of it and it is breaking my heart. I stay out of the room while he is feeding her which I heard helps. Any suggestions and how long does this transition usually take? Should we just introduce the bottle with breastmilk first then add in the formula once she gets used to it or just go for it all at once?

Re: Breast to bottle
My ds had a problem with the bottle too, it took a few days of crying, but he took to the bottle and now he eats like a champ. I would start with the bm first and once he takes the bottle more easily switch to formula. My son still refused the formula so I have been pumping at work since 3 months.

Re: Breast to bottle
I would definitely start with BM in the bottle and then if you think it will still be difficult mix the BM and formula and just shift the ratio slowly or keep it mixed.

Re: Breast to bottle
My DD wouldn't take the bottle for weeks and weeks, I had to go back to work and was getting very nervous...you know what worked? Latex nipples !! The silicone was tooo hard for her to get used to. Playtex latex were very soft and they worked well! Be consistent though - keep trying, once it was time to start formula instead of BM (1x a day) she was a pro and didn't react differently.
