Too early to start registering?

I will be 14w on Thursday... Is it too soon to start my registry? I'm really excited to start zapping stuff, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. lol

When did you all start your registries?

Re: Too early to start registering?

We did a few things as early as 14 weeks. I wanted to take my time and I'm not a fan of putting long hours in. We made 4-5 trips total from 14 weeks to 28 weeks.

We also did a ton of research and changed things online.

Good Luck and Enjoy!!Chat Icon Chat Icon

ETA: We wanted to register for mostly unisex stuff. We found out at 16 weeks we were having a BOY but we wanted to stick with gender neutral for the big items in case the next baby is a Girl.

Re: Too early to start registering?

I know most people register right after they find out the sex of the baby, but for people like me who are team Chat Icon I am wondering when the norm is.

I planned on registering in late July, early August because I know my shower will most likely be in October which means invites will go out in September.

If I register the end of July I will be 17-18 weeks

I was Team Chat Icon and registered after the Level II as well. I guess I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. I WAS researching like a madman weeks before that though!

Thanks, ladies!!
We find out the sex in 3 more weeks, at our 16w appointment (hopefully), so I might start then. Although I am very tempted to start with the little basics this week to get it out of my system! Chat Icon

I was 24 weeks when we registered. No specific reason for waiting... we just weren't sure what we wanted!

Re: Too early to start registering?

I registered early - maybe around 15 weeks.

I wanted to take my time & look at products in the store. We ust didn't tell anyone that we were registered.

That didn't stop my mom from telling my family - hence why all my bigger items were pretty much gone within a few weeks of adding them Chat Icon

We registered around 22 weeks when we found out she was a Chat Icon

You don't want to register too early because things get discontinued. This happened with the sheets I originally registered for.

Re: Too early to start registering?

I wouldn't start yet. The earliest I have done mine is at 20 weeks after finding out sex and by the time my shower rollled around, alot of the stuff was on clearance or discontinuedChat Icon

Re: Too early to start registering?

I started mine after my Level II so I knew if I was having a Chat Icon or Chat Icon BUT I definitely started researching before that - making lists based on the Baby bargains book and Consumer Reports Online (NOT their book on baby items since it is outdated!)

Re: Too early to start registering?

I would perosnally wait a bit more - I registered around 20 weeks and by the time my shower arrived at 34 weeks alot of my items were online only because the inventory changed.

Re: Too early to start registering?

We registered around 20 weeks. I had one shower at 34 weeks and another when I am about to be 36 weeks.

As some previous posters the problem I had with registering at 20 weeks was that alot of things have discontinued or inventory has changed. We didn't even register for clothes, things like car seats, colors of stroller etc. That was a little frustrating/annoying.

Going to BRU was also a little overwhelming for me. We only went once and from then on I made any changes online to avoid having to go to the store.

Re: Too early to start registering?

About 22 weeks or so. We waited until we found out what we were having.

If we had been Chat Icon we still probably would have waited until after 20 weeks.

Re: Too early to start registering?

We waited until around 20 weeks but that is just b/c i'm superstitious and wanted to wait until my level II.

I would say do it whenever you feel ready b/c we spent a TON of time changing things and unfortunately people started buying stuff before we were 100% settled on it...so maybe if you start earlier....you'll have more time to make decisions! Chat Icon

That happend to me for my wedding! and actually my friend waite da while to register and when I went to buy her infant seat it was already discontinued! If you register early just keep checking back and make sure it's still available.

Re: Too early to start registering?

we waited until our Level II at 19wks..one reason was we wanted to find out what we were having and second is that if you do it too early lots of items can get discontinued and then you have to redo it!

Re: Too early to start registering?

Started at 20 weeks after we found out it was a Chat Icon. I went back a couple of times to the store & mainly added online after that. Probably finished around 26 weeks.
