too early for a nap?
So I've been trying to get my 3.5 month DD on more of a schedule. I can't seem to get the whole napping thing down....
Last night she went down for the night at around 9pm. When my DH got up this morning at 430, she was wide awake and smiling, but went back to sleep eventually. Not sure how long she was awake.
She got up for the morning at 7am....has had 12oz of formula so far this morning (she likes a big breakfast) and now she is passed out in my arms.
Do I put her down for her morning nap NOW? Even though she's been up for only 2 hours?
Still trying to figure out how to work this baby!!!!

At that age, yes, totally normal for them to only be awake 2 hours before a nap! My DS at that age woke at 7, nap 9-12, then again 2-4, and bed at 7.

For the first few months, DD went down for a nap after being awake only two hours so, I don't think it is too early!

When my DD was 3 months old, she usually napped around 9AM. So yes, I'd put her in for a nap.
She napped at 9, 12, and 3 usually at that age.

yes follow her cues. my dd would always go down now and sleep, even if up for only 2 hours. Just follow her cues. she will let you know. She would sleep for a bit from 9-11?, then again a few hours after she woke up from nap.

DD always takes her morning nap at 9 am. That's why mommy never gets to go to the gym anymore. :-/
How big is your baby that she drinks 12 oz at once? What do you feed her that in?
DD is 6 months but still is usually awake 2 or so hours between naps except the late afternoon when she can stay up about 4 hours.

She doesn't take the 12 at once....she takes a full 8ozs every morning as soon as she wakes up. Then a couple hours later she take another 4ozs. She's a little peanut, at her last well visit she was in the 25 percentile. But she has a big appetite, especially in the morning.

Not too early. DD always napped 2 hours after waking for the longest time. Lately, she's been increasing her wake time (she's 6 months), but this am's nap was still about 2.5 hours after waking.

That makes so much more sense! I was so confused as to how she was drinking 8 oz at once!
DD is tiny too -- she's very short (like 10-15th percentile) but right in the middle (50th) for weight. But it sounds like our babies' habits are similar! She also is starving when she wakes up and usually has 7-8 oz at her 5 am feeding and the same at 9 am. She eats solids at around 11, then takes another bottle around 12:30 pm, but a much smaller one (between 4 & 6 oz). She has "dinner" around 5:30 (usually veggies or veggies and fruit, but I'm going to start proteins soon), then has another full bottle around 7 pm before she goes down for the night. Sometimes she has another small bottle between the 12:30 pm and 7 pm bottle. She drinks about 26 to 32 oz a day and weighs just under 16 lbs.
I like to follow her lead when it comes to naps most of the time. Sounds like you're doing everything right as far as what works for your daughter!
