Tomorrow is the big day...

Our first appointment with the RE! Chat Icon I'm anxious and excited and nervous and I just can't wait for tomorrow at 3pm.

UPDATE: I'm back and I cannot say enough good things about East Coast, Dr, Zapantis and just the entire staff. From the moment I walked I was greeted with a smile which is huge in my book and so often overlooked. I did not have to wait forever to be called and everyone I came in contact with was just so nice, even as we passed nurses and staff in the hall they all smiled and said hello. It meant so much to me to feel comfortable and at ease.

I had about 12 viles of blood taken and DH had 8. They also took my blood pressure and weighed me and all that good stuff. Then we went in to meet with Dr. Zapantis, he is such a sweet, soft spoken man but you can tell he really knows his stuff. He listened to me which really made me happy because I have not felt like a doctor was really listening to me in years. He looked over the records my OBGYN faxed over and decided to send me for more extensive bloodwork because based on some bloodwork from last year he thinks I have PCOS and an underactive thyroid. These are both things that I have been tested for before and was never given a straight answer about. My PCP told me my thyroid levels weren't far enough out of the normal range to warrant treatment and my OBGYN told me that maybe I had PCOS and maybe I didn't. Dr. Zapantis assured me that regardless of the outcome from the tests he is confident I will get pregnant.

After chating with Dr. Z for a bit he gave me a sono, he explained everything he was doing as he did and showed me everything. he said my uterus and lining look great. My right ovary looks to be polycycstic but nothing severe. And here comes the best news, I have a large dominant follie on my left ovary and Dr. Z said it looks like I may O on my own in the next 2-3 days! He said to keep using the OPK's and So we still have hope of getting pregnant on our own!

If I don't O or it doesn't result in a pregnancy our plan is to move forward with a MicroIVF cycle. The procedure is the same as IVF just less drugs (producing less eggs) so it's significantly less expensive. This is the best option for us because our insurance doesn't cover any fertility treatments and it has better precentages than IUI's, so we'd rather put our money towards something that will give us a better chance at getting pregnant.

For now I have to go for more bloodwork and a glucose tolerance test. DH has to have a semen analysis done next Saturday. We also have to watch an hour long IVF information session online and then contact the head nurse at East Coast so she can assign us our own nurse.

I feel better than I have in months. It is such a relief to have a plan and to know that we are on our way to having a baby.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes, it was so nice to be able to read your encouraging words before I left today for the appointment. I do not know what I would do without you girls. I have learned so much from each and every one of you and you have been such a great source of support!

As I find out more I will definitely update you guys! And if I left anything out that anyone wants to know feel free to ask, I will do my best to give as much info!!
