Toddler's high pitch scream

Omg! My 19 month old DS can scream and scream when he's in a mood. He doesn't cry or wimper. Nope... He does this high pitch shriek that goes through you. I have a headache today.
I politely tell him no screaming, I take him out of the situation, I won't give him what he wants, I put him in the carpet area till he's done... Nope... Doesn't work.
He comes right back and screams to me. I send him back the carpet and put him down.
He doesn't stop and it's not really a tantrum where he's throwing himself. It's just a scream when he doesn't get what he wants or I don't know what he wants. At some point I think he forgets anyway and screams at anything I offer anyway.

How do you stop the screaming? I really am calm when I deal and walk away too. Right now I have a major headache and can't get any work done either.

Btw... This is sorta new. Started a couple of weeks ago and doesn't stop. I know he could be getting some more molars, but I don't know. He sleeps fine and when he's happy he's in a good mood, but one tiny thing can set him off and the screaming can go on and on.

I think that once they start being able to verbalize more the screaming subsides, at least that is what happened in our case!

My 3.5 year old does it & he's extremely verbal. We have yet to.figure out how to get him to.stop.

hah good luck. DH is almost 23 months and still does this... at least now it is aimed at he cats so he does it 3 or 4 times a day and not all day!! Nothing has worked to stop it. I am just glad he's stopped doing it in the car.
