Is the high-pitched scream a phase?
DS is 21 months and he used to do it here and there. Now he does it all the time. It's a short scream, but so loud.
This has really become a fight between DH and I on how to discipline. Things are getting real ugly in our house.
I'm seriously ready to bash my brains against the wall.
Any advice?

DD started doing this at like 4 months old. She still does it sometimes, but when she first learned to do it, she did it constantly. She doesn't do it often now (she's 6 months now.) I screamed back (playfully) when she started doing it. She loved it; it was like a game. Eventually the thrill wore off for her. (Used to drive FH bonkers when we played like that. He'd say enough you two! I can't take the screaming. I just ignored him, lol.)
I think it's probably a little different at 21 months. My only guess is that if you try to say no, it becomes more enticing. If you ignore it, eventually they get bored of it.

I do try to ignore it. But DH screams back at him, so scary and usually swearing at him to 'Shut the *uck up!' 
Our marriage is nearing catastrophe.

Yikes, no that is not ok, as I'm sure you know. Men aren't always the best with this. I have gotten pi**ed at FH for some of his reactions to DD's crying or screaming as well. He's yelled back to shock her out of it, or been not so nice in his responses to her crying. Then I end up "disciplining" him later. He's gotten better. Now I tell him he sounds like a cranky old man, and he laughs at that and catches himself and stops. But, telling a child to shut the *uck up is never OK. Ask him if he would discipline your DS that way in public, or in front of his/your parents, or at the ped's office. You shouldn't discipline your child in private in a way that you wouldn't do in public/in front of others. That's a sure sign that there is something wrong with what you are doing.

DD is 19 months and does this sometimes too. I think it's a natural part of the communication development. If I ignore, she stops pretty quickly. If we're in a store, I will usually tell her to "simmer down" in one of my silly voices and she usually stops.
No offense, but your DH needs a serious time out. I would be livid if DH (or anyone) spoke to DD that way. That is completely unnecessary, IMO.

Caden screeches all the time..he has for awhile..much to the annoyance of Miss M.
He has developed a high pitched scream for when he is really PO'd...we just ignore him...
