toddler smoothie drinks?

does anyone know anything about these? are they healthy? is it a good idea to give this to a 13 month old? The two brands I have seen are - Earths best organic smoothie drink and Gerber harvest fruit or veggie drink?
DD is very thin and not the best eater so I was thinking of giving these to her as a healthy snack or putting it in her sippy cup rather than water.

I guess they are similar to drinkable yogurts - but they are not the Go Gurts. They look like they are in capri sun like pouches. I know the gerber has vegetable ones not just fruit. But I will definitely look into trader joes for the drinks you are talking about.
are they high in sugar?

Re: toddler smoothie drinks?

I recently bought a few of these for my 21 month old. I give them to him as an afternoon snack on the days he has an early lunch. He likes them - as with anything else, I think it's ok in moderation.

ETA: We've tried a couple of flavors of the Earth's Best ones

I give the Earth's Best ones to DS when we are out and about. The fact that they are shelf stable is really great. The ingredients are pretty healthy. There is no sugar, just organic fruit and yogurt.

I make them smoothies myself. Yogurt, milk, some frozen fruit, blend it all together - they love em.

I give my DD the YoBaby drinkable yogurts and she loves them. They are great because she is a poor eater.

Re: toddler smoothie drinks?

I would just be careful of all the sugar. I was going to get them (the stonyfield farm ones) for my DD b/c she is not hte best eater - my friend told me her DS's dentist said they are TERRIBLE for their teeth - so much sugar - she used to give her 2 yr old the stonyfield farm ones and he had several cavities by 3. Not sure if it was related but, the dentist seemed to think so! But, I have never bought them so I don't have any personl knowledge.

I give them to DS because he his a horrible eater... If you are worried about sugar, brush their teeth after wards. Almost everything your toddler drinks and eats has sugar in it. Good oral hygiene started at an early age will help you down the road..

oh, those things! yeah, my kids liked them...but they prefer drinkable yogurt! Chat Icon ETA: IMO, most yogurt isn't that low in sugar unless it is plain. DD1 is super picky and any despite the sugar, yogurt is healthy for her.

Eh if you mean the yobaby drinkables when you say the stonyfield? They actually have a lot more sugar it appears than the earth's best ones do (23g compared to 15g in the one I just googled). I would say - there are much more unhealthy options out there - it is a decent way to get some vit D and A - esp if you have a toddler who doesn't eat as many veggies or fruits or drink as much milk as they should. Nothing beats plain yogurt and mixing fresh fruit in and making your own at home - but these are shelf stable and compared to many out there not that bad esp if you are out of the house so you don't have to carry ice packs.

I personally haven't tried them - and didn't even know that earth's best makes them - but they look interesting as a shelf stable snack on the go.

Re: toddler smoothie drinks?

My question is- how do you get a 13 month old to drink that?
Do you put it in a sippy or something?
Spoon feed it to them?
I don't get the logistics of it

I only purchased it once for DD but we put it right in her sippy cup and she drank it right up no problem.

ETA - I was a total idiot initially and just took the cap off and handed it to DD (was not thinking at alll) and lets just say we had to hose her down and the high chair Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Got to love mommy brain
