to get a master bath or not

We are looking to renovate and one of the things we are trying to decide between are two smallish bathrooms on the second level (one being a master bath) or one large bathroom with a double vanity. We do not currently have a bathroom upstairs so any number of bathrooms would be wonderful Chat Icon

What would you do? What would you want in a house?

TIA!

I would get a master bath for sure if it was inside of my bedroom. Something private that only me and DH would use.

We currently have a small master bath and another small bathroom, both upstairs. Even though they are small I like having my own bathroom in my room. My kids are young now but when they are older I really don't want to share the bathroom with two teenagers.

I have a master bath that's small, but I am glad we have it.

For resale value, 2 baths are always better than 1, and many people won't even look at a house without a master bath. It's become a must-have for a lot of people.

our house has one large bath for the bedrooms. Hopefully in the near future we will seperate it into two, so one will be our master and the other the hall bathroom. i rather two smaller bathrooms with one being mine and my DH's.

Thanks for the input! DH really wants a master bath. I was pulling for the bigger hall bathroom, but now Im a little more swayed towards a master...

A master bath is one of those things I never knew I needed until I had it. I love it and I'm sure I will love it more once we have DC.

I agree even a small master is way better than no master. When my kids were teens not having to share a bathroom with them was great. My son is a slob and my daughter is a water hog and they had to fight it out with each other but we had our own bathroom.

definitely both

if you were thinking of the larger hall bath because of storage issues, you'll find another way to store your things- recessed cabinets/medicine cabinet, hooks and bars for towels...

i had the same choice to make and im glad we did a small master bath!

I have a smallish master bath and not super huge guest bath upstairs. I wish my master was bigger but no way would I trade it for a larger guest bath! I love having a bathroom and shower off our bedroom. I would really recommend doing the master bath 100%.

Master! It wasnt a dealbreaker when we were looking, but now that we have one I would never buy a house without it.

I emailed the contractor to put it in! Thanks so much everyone. We will have a linen closet upstairs too so at least we will have some more storage. My DH is very happy you all sided with him Chat Icon
