Tips on getting DD to brush her teeth
The post below on having LO's teeth pulled got me nervous. DD is 2 1/2 she brushes her teeth but not properly. I have tried to do it for her but she will not sit still and gags when I try to do the back teeth. I am noticing some buildup on her teeth by the gum lines. Anyone have any advice?
TIA

I bribe my DD.
She's obsessed with lotion. So I say "want some lotion? Let me brush your teeth." And she loves to drink from a big kid cup now - no straw. So I'll replace lotion with cup.
Or I just wrestle her and as she cries I brush those teeth. I'm bigger and stronger than her.

This is what I end up doing, and I am afraid its going to scar her and she won't go to the dentist.

Tips on getting DD to brush her teeth
I usually take out my toothbrush and let DS "brush" my teeth while I brush his. It usually distracts him for a few seconds while I get the back teeth. It only lasts for 20 seconds tops. I can assure you that I'm doing a crappy job of brushing his teeth! lol

Tips on getting DD to brush her teeth
DD loves when I name all the things she ate recently that I can "see". So as I'm doing the top I tell her see green beans and have to get them out and then on the bottom I need to look for pasta, etc. As long as I can think of additional things she usually lets me back in.
I also make silly noises for her to imitate that make her open big. I do a sing songy aaah the goes up and down that she loves to copy and it usually lets me get to the back pretty well. Some days she just keeps biting the brush or only wants to do it herself but hopefully we get enough.

i sing a silly song and pretend to clean out all sorts of things. Food, animals, games, etc.
I have wrestled her to the ground
We had 2 brushes at one point. One for her one for me.

Lay her down and brush her teeth…I also used to say I was trying to catch her favorite character in her mouth. It seemed to always work.

Oral B and Disney have a fun ap that DD likes. You need one their princess tooth brushes but it's fun.

Re: Tips on getting DD to brush her teeth
The buildup on the gum line is plaque, get it taken care of immediately as I waited & resulted in diseaster.
I let my boys brush first & then I brush them for them. Get a battery operated opposed to the reg bc it truly cleans better. Also get some kids ACT & brush it on your LOs teeth with qtip

Have you brought your DD to the dentist? I will tell my DD we are going to play dentist and I brush for her.
