Does anyone else have a really hard time getting their 2 yo to brush their teeth???
I try singing about it, asking nicely if I can help, letting her do it and then trying to help with her. Nothing works. She just sits there and sucks the toothpaste (floride free) off the brush. It's a battle every time.
Does anyone have any tricks? Because I hate this!

Re: Does anyone else have a really hard time getting their 2 yo to brush their teeth???
DS is a pain sometimes with this. Here is what I find that helps:
-I brush his teeth while he is really into a tv show... this way he is distracted and not fussing about getting his teeth brushed, and I can really do it right.
-I use the Crest child spin brush. It gets the job done better, but the kids seem to love it, and they have characters on them too.
Hope that helps!!

Pretend there are "characters" on her teeth that you need to brush off
miki used to LOVE yo gabba gabba so I used to say "oooh, look, there's Muno, let's brush him out of there.." "hey, how did foofa get in your mouth, we need to brush her off too"...etc
good luck

For a few months we had to have "Flora the Frog" (hand puppet) brush their teeth.
Can you get a puppet in one of their favorite characters? My kids would only let Flora do it

I have no advice because I have exactly the same trouble, but I think I'm going to try some of the things posted above. I think DD might let me brush Cookie Monster out of her mouth.

Have you brought her to the dentist yet? When I took DS for his first appt, the hygenist was brushing the "buggies" off his teeth, and this seemed to click with him. The dentist was a lot of fun for him, he got to pick a new toothbrush, they used a tasty flavored toothpaste that he also picked, he got a huge goodybag full of stuff, and they had a nice flatscreen playing his fav shows on right in front of him while they worked on him. I went to Kidsmiles in Babylon. It was a great experience, that might help too!

OMG I hate teeth brushing times of the day (Of which is after we eat a big meal and we rinse after a snack!) He screams bloody murder if you try to help so thanks for posting this so I can gain some insight as well.

I honestly don't even remember! She saw him for about 30 seconds, it was the hygenist who was amazing, and I don't remember her name either!

Bry is going to be 3 and he's finally getting better at it! I tell him we have to "Brush away (insert whatever food he ate)" I make a game of it! I do it first, then he "finishes" by sucking the toothpaste off the brush.

It's really touch and go for us. What has been working so far...
- I make the toothbrush talk to him looking for food in his teeth that he ate (My husband thinks that is my all time low and has to run away because he laughs so hard...but it works )
- I brush his toy's 'teeth'
- I sing to him

Re: Does anyone else have a really hard time getting their 2 yo to brush their teeth???
DD is 17 months and she used to hate it. Someone on her told me that they had to hold their DS down and force it and eventually he just surrendered. So , I tried that.
I didnt want to force her, but she wouldnt even open her mouth and she would flip out. So I put her down on her changing table , help both her hands in my one hand and everytime she opened her mouth to object, I brushed. I felt awful but then it worked! About 2 weeks of doing the above and now she doesnt fight me at all. Now I can brush her teeth in the bathroom, where teeth should be brushed

Re: Does anyone else have a really hard time getting their 2 yo to brush their teeth???
My rule is Mommy do first....then Christopher do...So I brush his teeth to make sure they actually get brushed then he does his thing. I usually brush my teeth at the same time as him and he tries to mimic me so at least he moves the brush around....

Re: Does anyone else have a really hard time getting their 2 yo to brush their teeth???
Yes. He will take the toothbrush and brush his teeth no problem - but, come on - he is not really getting the inside and the front of his teeth clean. I have to do it for it to really get done and he won't let me near him with the tooth brush. Sometimes I get so desperate I use a wash cloth with the tooth paste on it. Strangely, he lets me do that. I have a lot of dentists in the family and according to them - this is fine. I have tried everything. he is jst a nudge
