Throwing up phlegm?
My 3.5 year is acting fine, just has a runny nose. However yesterday and today, he threw up once after a coughing fit. It was very phlegmy. Is this normal? To puke from coughing? And for it to be mucousy?

Re: Throwing up phlegm?
Yup both my kids are prone, it's from post nasal drip.

Throwing up phlegm?
Ugh yes, it's gross. It's their body's way of getting out the congestion.

Throwing up phlegm?
Happens to my DD all the time- just keep an eye on it; if the phlegm doesn't disappear in a few days, a visit to the Dr. doesn't hurt. Prevents pneumonia which my dd got

This! ALL THIS
Stay away from dairy as it adds to it. I give my kid Claritin and Benadryl to dry that stuff up.

Re: Throwing up phlegm?
Thanks ladies. But now it's the third day in a row, same time of day, and I didn't even notice much coughing. Still phlegmy though. Doesn't smell/look like regular vomit. Getting concerned../

Throwing up phlegm?
DD had this when she was 9 months. She was very congested and for 3 nights in a row, threw up in her crib in the middle of the night due to excessive coughing. The vomit was very mucousy and had an egg white consistency.

Is it after lying down? I would call ped but I'm almost positive nothing to be concerned, just seasonal allergy due to post nasal

Throwing up phlegm?
I would take him the Dr. Better safe than sorry. My dd symptoms were a little different, she started throwing up but not from a coughing fit initially. BUT all she threw up was phlegm. And then turned into a cough. She ended up having strep. NO throat symptoms at all. It was all her belly and day 3 she couldnt get out of bed. She told me she was so tired. And I could see in her face something more was going on. I was shocked when they told me strep. They said sometimes symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea not throat.
Good luck!
