Three-in-one Package...Verizon or Cablevision?

What do you have and what do you like/dislike about it?

We are getting ready to set this up and I am trying to do research on price and service between the two. Any opinions and/or advice would be a huge help.

Which kind of internet service do they offer for your area?

I was interested in Verizon until DH found out that it's DSL, not cable internet, which he prefers.

Are you sure VErizon offers in your neighborhood? They are advertising but it is still pretty limited.

I think Verizon is cheaper - about $95 a month for TV, phone and Internet. That said, I had awful experiences in the past with DSL -- delays and more delays, difficulties installing, etc. Maybe they have fixed these probelms, I don't know.

DSL is still slower than cable.

However - Cablevision has been terrible for us. They have been over-charging us for months and every month say that next month we will get the credit. We changed the acct. to my business instead of DH's name - well so they charge us TWICE now!! And it is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone to answer your questions if they are not in their script.

So.... which is the lesser of two weevils?, as Russell Crowe would say...(Captain & Commander) Not sure.

PS we pay $144/month for Cable TV, phone & Internet -- or that's what we are SUPPOSED to pay!

We have Verizon DSL and Phone Service, but not FIOS (we have Direct TV). People who have Optimum Online tend to say it is better than Verizon DSL, but I love it. We have never had any trouble, it's quick, and it's cheaper that Cablevision's package.

We just got the cablevision optimum online triple play package this summer(cable, phone, internet). So far we're happy with it. We pay less a month for all three with HBO then my parents pay for just Time Warner (cable only).

You can also sign up for Optimum Rewards if you get all three. You get free movies at Clearview theaters on Tuesday nights and discounts on other nights. I think there are other discounts too.

I hate Cablevision myself, but it is the fastest service.

My cable bill is $185/month. I have Optimum Online, Optimum Voice, the Gold package for TV with HBO on demand and DVR (one DVR box).

I hear the new Verizon service (Fios) is awesome, though, and saves you a lot of money.

cable modium is much faster then DSL
that is why you always see DSL say its aster then dial up because they know it is slower

there seems to be two speeds for cable modems know in some areas - but you pay more for the faster connection -

If Verizon offers FIOS in your area - definitely go with that. FIOS is way faster than cable - it's direct fiber to your house. They do TV, Phone, & Internet.

We are getting so much more TV and internet for our money with Verizon and so far, I'm happy with them - we've had FIOS for a little over a month.


ETA: Cable/optonline is NOT the fastest anymore. Fiber is.

we have the optimum on line package which comes with the cable internet, telephone and cable - i think it is called triple play.

it is 99.95 a month before taxes, but we added a dvr box and we added premium channels, so our bill is about 145 a month. not too bad..

I have the optimum package and enjoy it. I have 3 boxes, don't have any premium channels, and my bill comes up to $111 a month. Haven't had any problems with phone, internet, or cable so far!

I have Cablevision for my phone, internet and t.v. and have had it for quite some time. The service is quite good and, when I did have to call customer service, I never had any problems. I'd recommend them to anyone.

My parents just switched from Cablevision (which they have had for years and HATE) to Verizon FIOS (Fiber-optic service) they are lovin it

I have the triple play from Cablevision and have had alot of problems with it. Dh wants to get rid of Cable. I love my News 12 though

for you guys that said your cablevision bill was on the higher side - did you guys sign up for optimum rewards yet? cause if you have tv, phone and internet with cablevision and you get optimum rewards you automatically get 25 off your bill.

we have io silver with all the premium channels, a hd dvr and the phone and the internet and our bill every month h is $135.
