I am with you. I have heard bit and pieces but no idea what's going on. I haven't listen to the song.
Her album basically states it from beginning to end. It starts off with her having suspicions, to her finding out, to her leaving, to them reconciling. Everyone is flipping out over a line she says in one of her songs "Call Becky with the good hair" aka "Go call your hoe". Rachel Roy (who was rumored to have been the one Jay-Z cheated with and the woman at the center of Solange's freak out on the elevator) posted an instagram post the same night lemonade was released referencing her "good hair" aka.. pretty much shouting herself out as the other woman. All of Beyonce's fans started posting on Rachel Roy's instagram but half of them didn't get the name right and started attacking Rachel Ray instead.  That's the sparknotes for ya!
thank you  but why the hell did she feel the need to share this personal information with everyone! Did she really think this was a good idea. I assume they were prepared for everyone to talk about them and this is what they wanted!

i never considered myself a fan of hers but i watched it and found it to be powerful and mesmerizing. for those who say she should just be quiet about her experience, my question is why? cheating is something that happens very frequently in relationships. millions of people know what its like to be betrayed. why shouldn't she put her experience out there in a beautiful and artistic way? music is about connecting and relating and i bet this album has a real resonance for a lot of people.
Although I absolutely cannot stand either one of them, I do agree with this. I've only seen clips. To me it seems, she has him by the balls. Like, I'm going to put you on blast, and you're going to take it because of the hurt you caused me or I'm leaving.

I think they're most likely past this phase in their relationship (hopefully) and this is her way of healing in an artistic way. Plus, he has to face the music (literally). & I'm sure making all this $$$$ of it helps the whole thing.

I have no issues with her referencing it in her songs. I just find her fans swarming all over other celebs and harassing people on social media based purely on speculation very irritating. Same with any obsessive fan base. I've heard similar stories from Taylor fans, jones bro fans and lady gaga fans

Thank you for posting because I had no idea.
I dont care. I have no respect for her or JayZ and I used to be a huge fan. I have no respect for their views on police or politics. I cant stand them. I hated them from the whole is she pregnant is she not is there a surrogate. BS. Her music has consistently sucked in my opinion. The last songs I even care to listen to is Single Ladies or Crazy in Love. I am so over them. And him I used to be one of his biggest fans since 93 when he came out. but he fell off for me. Im just so over them both. Go disappear please.

My issue is not that she sang the song or wanted to sing a song about her life experiences, most singers do that. My issues are that she is shaming a woman for cheating with her man instead of shaming the man himself. She is suppose to be all about women empowerment and I personally don't think she is showing that at all. While the other woman was wrong, moreso was her husband.
I also find it disgusting that she allows her fans to behave the way that they do. They are so loyal to her that it wouldn't surprise me if one of them became violet saying it's on her behalf. All she has to do is to tell them to stop and she is not and just sitting back probably laughing about the whole thing.

I love Beyoncé. That being said, I read this whole album may actually be about her parents divorce. I think her dad was unfaithful (there was an illegitimate baby).

Did you hear the songs or read the lyrics? Most of the "angry" songs are directed towards the person betraying (presumably Jay-Z).. There were a lot of memes about how Jay-Z found his 100th problem.

Me too! I find her personality a bit annoying but I do love that her response was to post a recipe for lemonade. I think I like her a little more now because clearly she has a great sense of humor.

But the lyrics ARE shaming him. The line that got all her fans nuts is "He only wants me when I'm not there/he better call Becky with the good hair." That's what is getting her fans all riled up because they are assuming they know who "Becky" is and then went on the attack. Otherwise that album is all about dragging Jay Z as well as her dad for sure.
I do agree that she should be releasing a statement or something to her fans that the insane bullying needs to end because there are those who are nuts and will take it a step further.

God forbid a white singer said something like that about black people. They would make the singer get up apologize, they would protest the song and every album that singer put out.

I had no idea that was a racist comment (still not completely sure why it's racist, but ok). If it is, in fact, then that's really appalling that no one seems to be bothered by it.

It's not racist but it's stereotyping...in the urban terms "Becky" refers to the typical white girls.
Rappers use the term "Becky" in their songs all the time to refer to white girls who offer up good fellatio.
It has been out there for a long time in that industry that white women love to perform those services so are often referred to as a "Becky" or they even call the act itself a "Becky" (Plies sings a beautiful song about it lol)
So I don't consider it racist but it's stereotyping most definitely.
Replace said singer with a white singer, change becky to sha nay nay, and 100% bet you there would be a lot of people up in arms.
