Thoughts on OPKs
So as you all heard (many times this month, sorry), I got a UTI right before I typically O. Besides throwing me out of the BD game for a few days, it threw off my O and I don't think I ever did.
So now I'm starting a new cycle today. I have to say, I'm a little nervous about using OPKs this month. I've used them for months with no trouble, but this past cycle, I can't help but think holding my urine for 4 hours a day for a week straight contributed to the infection. I started with the symptoms right after holding my urine on the 19th day (my usual positive day). Of course frequent BD'ing played a role, too. But I'm just nervous I'm going to get one again.
If you were in my shoes, would you continue to use them and supplement with cranberry pills? Or skip them? I *usually get very clear patterns in CM that let me know I'm about to O and that I did (when it dries up), though last month was all over the place.

Re: Thoughts on OPKs
I never hold my pee in for the 4 hours necessary and sometimes I use OPKs with FMU. I know this is against the 'rules', but I always seem to get an accurate OPK reading. Maybe try doing that and avoid holding it in for that long. HTH!!

Re: Thoughts on OPKs
I rarely make it four hours. I've gotten + after only waiting two hours... don't make yourself sick trying to wait!

Re: Thoughts on OPKs
do you use the digital opk's (with the smiley face)? if so, you can use them with FMU according to the instructions.

I've been using the line tests only because I test for so long and I need to buy a lot. I usually don't O until CD20, but I start testing around CD10-12 because I'm always afraid it'll move up. Mine say FMU can be used too. Maybe I'll try that. Two cycles ago, I had a negative with FMU and then a positive by noon, so I'm a little hesitant.

Re: Thoughts on OPKs
When I used OPK's last month I used the cheap line tests around 12-2 in the afternoon. I never held my urine before testing and I got a postive!
ETA: I read that it is better to use them in the afternoon around 2ish because you get an LH surge in the afternoon... I did test one morning with FMU last month and it was negative and then I tested again in the afternoon and sure enough it was positive
