Those who are DONE having kids

And for sure.....are you ever sad that you'll never have the thrill of seeing that line on a test, feeling a baby kick and even (GASP) giving birth again?

We are SO done, and I DEFINITELY do not want more kids, but I would LOVE to be pregnant one more time, you know?

I would probably toy with the idea of a third (even though I really feel we are done) had my last delivery not been such a NIGHTMARE. It was really scary for me (baby was totally fine, it was me).

I definitely don't want anymore kids, but sometimes I am sad that all of that is behind me, and I will never get to experience it again.

Anyone else?

SAme here! I love the thrills of pregnancy and definitely get sad when I think about how I'll (most likely) never go through it again.

The thought of giving birth again makes me get anxiety attacks

I wasn't good with being pregnant. I am way too much of an anxious person with major medical anxiety to the point where I was a wreck the ENTIRE time. Just a mess.

I am done.
I am complete.
I have never been so sure of anything.

Yes!! I feel the same way.

We're due with #2 in March and we're both 37 so we know that realistically we're done BUT I do get sad thinking about DH never getting me pregnant again, or seeing the line, or feeling a baby inside of me. It's just weird to close that chapter in my life. I know that we're both happy at 2 kids and a 3rd at this point in time would really be a lot but it's still sad to know we're calling it quits after this. Chat Icon

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

I never thought that i would be, but now that I have my appointment to get my tubes tied at the end of the week, I keep on thinking of how much I am going to miss bringing another one into this world.

We have 4 beautiful children and if we could afford it we would have many more, but honestly, my last pregnancy and delivery was very scary for both me and my son and IDK if i could go through that again.

I'm sure I won't miss actually being pregnant, but i will miss the joy of seeing that little miracle being born and the newborn baby infant stage!

Those who are DONE having kids

Nope. Never sad about it. I had my first and only at 37 and I’m done. I liked being pregnant for about 5 minutes (I didn’t have a good pregnancy) and would never like to go through labor again.

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

I guess I'll miss the excitement of that period, but I really feel like our family is complete. Our third was kind of a surprise (we were open to a third but weren't going nuts trying and had set a window before closing up shop, she squeezed in right at the closing bell when we thought we were done).

I would not look forward to being pregnant while running after 3 other little ones.

Yes, from time to time I do feel that way. I loved being pregnant!! I'm lucky I'm not five years younger because if I were I would totally be pushing for #4 to experience it all (well, except for all the c-sections...I am OVERJOYED I never have to do that again!) one more time. And then at that point I'd be a) a single mother because DH would have left us all and b) committed to an insane asylum. Chat Icon

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

I'm pretty sure we are done. But I do feel sad that it's all over. Has hard as it was to be pregnant with a toddler and now have a newborn, I will miss not going through all the fun parts of it all.

I'm so torn on what to do with the baby stuff once we are done with it. I can't bring myself to get rid of it, but I can't imagine having another one right now because I know it will be even harder the 3rd time around.

yes. having #2 on Monday and we are done.

I am sad that the "new baby" stage of my life will be over Chat Icon BUT I am excited to have my family complete. Looking forward to everything that we will experience as the FOUR of us. Looking forward to watching DS and DD grow up together and their relationship and bonds form.

I knew I was not done when I had my son and although my heart wishes that I could at some point have another child - I know it isn't in the cards for us (unless we win the lotto).

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

Pregnancy was a piece of cake (seriously the whole time)
I had a little pain towards the end but nothing too bad.

9hrs of contractions. Yeah thats really the only thing I have to think about isn't it? Nuclear bomb going off in my uterus. Joy

C/S itself a breeze. Easiest medical procedure I've ever had.

After she was born my health took some scary turns and I'm not sure I ever want to do that again. Its not worth dying over, especially because I have AJ.

I enjoy so much being a one and done mom. I am soooo very done.

I have no regrets and no feeling of 'lets feel that odd rolling thingie in me again'.

I did not enjoy having a stick shoved up me to see the heart beat. I did not enjoy going to the doctor every month. I did not enjoy being stared at as I ate my sushi and medium rare steaks. I did not like not being able to take medicines when I was sick. I did not like not being able to roll over and over in bed. I did not like dressing my whale of a body. I did not like losing my eye sight and having to give up driving. I did not like stairs. I did not like the horsepill vitamins. I did not like the fear of "is she ok?". I did not like the worry when I bled.

Nope, I'm happy just being Mom.

Of course AJ was worth it. Yes, I loved parts of it too.. But I choose to recall the whole thing in my mind and it includes all the bad parts. I still say I must have had the EASIST pregnancy ever. No cravings, no pain, no morning sickness, etc. But I couldn't/wouldn't say I'd want to do it again. haha

I still feel awe and admiration when I see moms with more than one like "OMG, you ARE superwoman!"

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

After #2 we are done. I have horrible pregnancies and never want to experience it again. The thought of a bfp and the physical symptoms again in my life is unbearable. Even having #2 is a stretch(I am currently preggers) but I didn't feel our family was complete with one. I am not even 30 and probably getting my tubes tied during my next csection. I don't know if I would feel the same way if I had easy pregnancies.

Eta I am excited that after this baby, I won't have to save anything. No more Tupperware filled with baby clothes and baby contraptions taking up my attic. Definitely a plus.

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

I am good. I had difficult pregnancies, and complications that lasted for a long time after delivery. My health has suffered. I have no problems giving away my kids clothing when it no longer fits. While I love babies, and nothing beats those open mouth O kisses, I like being able to sleep through the night, fitting into a normal car, not worrying about how 5 will fit into a hotel room, or our home. I am good. If an accident happened, we would welcome it with open arms, but I am done. My DH is done done. He absolutely does not want another at all.

I'm not sad about not being pregnant but, I am getting sad that I will not have another baby.

DS 2 will be 10 mos tomorrow and he's growing up so quickly (he doesn't think he's a baby). He's growing so fast too - I switched out his 9-12 month clothes this morning to 12-18 months (DS 2 didn't move to that size until he was 13 mos).

I am done having kids after this pregnancy (#4). While I dont dislike being pregnant, I definitely don't love it. I always feel bad when people talk about how they loved being pregnant, like a missing somekind of mom gene. lol

I would like to have 1 more if I didnt have to go through 9 months of pregnancy and my husband was on board, but he is definitely done after this one!

Re: Those who are DONE having kids

I get so sad thinking about being done. We have two amazing girls and would consider a third if we had a larger home but that doesn't seem like its in our future. I loved being pg, loved having newborns, I just love everything baby. I had a horrible recovery from last csec yet if we had the space I might do it again. Now that my youngest is 7 months old I started giving away a lot of the gear and little clothes. I can't see storing it for the "what if" possibility. It was really hard to throw out the infant carseat. It sort of symbolized the real end for me.

Same here!

I don't miss being pregnant one bit. I kind of enjoyed it the first time, probably because I got to park my ass at a computer for 8 hours a day and it was my first so there was lots of fuss and excitement, but I sure as hell didn't like it the second time, while chasing a 2 yr old around!!!

I don't miss the newborn stage either-- sleepless nights, huge gear all over the house, lack of freedom.

My kids are a little older now (youngest is turning 4) and I just love this lifestyle. I would never, ever, ever want to start over.
