I'm pretty sure that most people don't get sonos at every appointment.

I'm pregnant with twins and I have a short cervix that I had to get stitches for, so I have had at least a quick one at each appointment.


ETA: I also have weekly appointments at this point and am on strict bed rest. I know you want to see the baby because its awesome, but be grateful you're not getting sonos as frequently as I am - its because my pregnancy has complications.

12 week NT scan and 20 week Level 2.. since baby didn't cooperate, I had to go again.. but after 12 weeks, the doc uses a doppler to hear the heartbeat.. my next one is scheduled for 31 or 32 weeks..

eta: i had one at 8 weeks as well..

I have been lucky cause my dr always asks if I want to see the baby but no you do not get them at every appt unless you are at a high risk

this pregnancy is a result of IVF and at my fertility doctors office I was spoiled and had a sono every week til 10 weeks. I was released to my OB/GYN at 11 weeks and only had one sono with him (so far). My last appt he just listened for the heartbeat with a doppler.
Don't they understand it makes us feel better/calms us to have a sono more frequently?

ok, I would like to get one everytime but i guess its not the norm :(
i guess as long as i get to hear a heart beat thats ok.

I guess it depends on the office... Where I go they do Sonos at every appointment for everyone. He said that whenever the patients r in he likes to take the opportunity to check on LO. If you're still early on and picking a doc that's definitely something to ask!

I changed offices since my dd. But i didnt get a sono everytime i got one at 6wks,8wks, 12wks,16wks,20wks and i think at 35 weeks.

i got one at 8 weeks, 12 weeks for NT scan, I'll get another at 20, and 30 they told me...

i just went to a regular visit yesterday and they used the doppler for the heartbeat so that was good...and we could even tell from that that LO was moving ALL OVER everytime Dr. would get the heartbeat, it would last like 2 seconds, and baby would be moved LOL...finally after a few mins we got about 10 solid seconds of heartbeat...so cooll!!

For a singelton, no. I think it is 12, 20 and then a few after.

started at an RE. Sonos every week until 10 weeks. Than at OB had one at 12 week.s Next one will be 20 weeks. Cant wait for that one! 3 more weeks until I see my LO again!

i think it depends on the office. the only time i didn't have one was my last appointment (at about 25w). I have one tomorrow at 28w1d. I'm not high risk or multiples.

my office generally does it at your 1st ob appt, 12 weeks, 20 weeks, then one at 30something weeks (not sure exactly). it's only different if you are carrying multiples or at high risk for something.
i have had one at 4.5 weeks, 6 weeks, 7.5 weeks, and one again coming at 9 weeks. (so far)

For my practice they do one at the first appt, the 12 week nt scan, 20 weeks and then again later on for a growth sono.

They do listen to the heartbeat at every appt though. And if for some reason they can't find the heartbeat they will do a sono to make sure everything is ok and to ease your mind. So I was kind of hoping the baby would be hiding when they used the doppler so I could sneak a peak.

My OBGYN does a sono for every visit for everyone.

Plus I go to a high risk so I get a sono every two weeks with him, I am spoiled.

I think sometimes it depends on what your insurance will pay for.

I know someone who only got 12/20 and 36 weeks versus many others who had 5+ over the pregnancy.

I got one at 9w to confirm, 12w for the NT scan, 20w for the Anatomy scan, and will have one at 37w to assess the weight and position of the baby before birth.

It seems like a lot of ladies have a sono earlier than 37 weeks - it's been so hard for me to wait! That's a full 4 months without seeing my little one. But my office only does more sonos if you're having problems, so I'm thankful that I didn't need them.
