Probably a stupid question...12 week appt

So I have my 12 week appt with my OB. He is not doing a sono or anything since I have my ultrascreen just a few days later at a different office.

So...according to the office, it's just a 'regular' check-up. Okay...regular? I guess I'm trying to understand what that means. I guess it's just an internal exam and that's it? What the heck is the guy gonna find out about the baby anyway?

Not noramlly for an internal. Just weight, Blood Pressure. Urine, how do you feel type of visit. These are what you will be doing going forward. No internal until 35 weeks (at least in my office).

Sounds bo-ring! oh well...guess I can't see the baby every time! And weight is NOT gonna be fun. I guess I should come with more questions huh?

I find them annoying. I forgot, they listen to the HB too. You will be able to hear it also. Other than that, yes BORING! It takes me longer to drive there, then the actual visit.

I just went for my 12 week appt yesturday.. And I thought I was going to have a sonogram too.... Well.... They weighed me, asked if I had any questions.. How was I feeling? Then the Dr came in with her hand held Doppler to hear the heartbeat... After a couple of minutes of not finding the HB, she did a regular sonogram to find the little bugger hiding out..

Today, at my ultrascreen, that was sooo much fun watching the baby jump around!!! He/she wouldn't sit still! So it took a little longer than usual which was ok by me! I have a little mexican jumping bean inside me, and it was amazing to watch!!!

Oh.. It was a regular sonogram, not an internal...

Oooh I hope I can hear the heartbeat at my 12 week appt...not expecting it though. Will be sad though if DH ends up missing it - I told him he didn't have to come out of his way for this one. Oh well, we have the screen to look forward to just a few days later!

At 12 weeks you'll start the once a month blood pressure, weigh in and urine check. They will ask how you are feeling and answer any concerns. They usually don't start internals until weeks 36/37.

If you haven't had an internal at all yet then they will check your uterus, cervix, etc. but I'm pretty sure they did this already. Get used to the doctor's office because you'll be seeing that place a lot over the year.
